Lullaby

*I hope you never lose your sense of wonder You get your fill to eat But always keep that hunger May you never take one single breath for granted God forbid love ever leave you empty handed I hope you still feel small When you stand by the ocean Whenever one door closes, I hope one more opens Promise me you'll give fate a fighting chance And when you get the choice to sit it out or dance I hope you dance I hope you dance*

When Chloe was little her mother would sing her to sleep. As her mother's soft, gentle voice floated on the air Chloe would be filled with adoration. When Chloe got older her mother stopped singing to her. But, when Chloe had an exceptionally bad day she could still hear her mother's voice as she drifted off to sleep.

*I hope you never fear those mountains in the distance Never settle for the path of least resistance Living might mean taking chances But they're worth taking Lovin' might be a mistake But it's worth making Don't let some hell bent heart Leave you bitter When you come close to selling out Reconsider Give the heavens above More than just a passing glance*

The words always soothed Chloe. They helped to remind her that she could rise above her problems. The words helped give Chloe the confidence to keep going. Chloe could almost feel her mother tuck a strand of Chloe's blond hair behind her ear as that song played itself in her head.

*And when you get the choice to sit it out or dance I hope you dance (Time is a wheel in constant motion always) I hope you dance (Rolling us along) I hope you dance (Tell me who) I hope you dance (Wants to look back on their years and wonder) (Where those years have gone)*

Chloe's mom was the hidden force behind Chloe's drive and motivation. She was an ear to talk to, and a shoulder to cry on. Her mother was a rock in Chloe's unsteady world. Chloe could count on her for anything. Her love was unconditional. Chloe worshipped her mother with all she had.

*I hope you still feel small When you stand by the ocean Whenever one door closes, I hope one more opens Promise me you'll give faith a fighting chance And when you get the choice to sit it out or dance Dance*

As Chloe played her mother's lullaby in her head she felt herself relax. A familiar contentment took over Chloe's body. Her mother always had that effect on her.

*I hope you dance I hope you dance (Time is a wheel in constant motion always) I hope you dance(Rolling us along) I hope you dance (Tell me who) (Wants to look back on their years and wonder) I hope you dance (Where those years have gone) (Tell me who) I hope you dance (Wants to look back on their years and wonder) (Where those years have gone)*

Chloe sighed and closed her eyes. She could hear her mother and father talking in the next room. She knew how lucky she was, and she reveled in it. Chloe fell asleep to the sound of her mother's sweet voice.
