AN: I do not own Grey's Anatomy, Castle or any of the characters. This is just for fun. Also, I realize that some of the characters are completely out of character. I don't care. This was just for fun (and for Mogie, cause my muse died on her). So.. Enjoy!

"Rick, watch her head!" Kate glared at the man, hoisting Jo up higher on her hip.

"Sorry, Kate, it's not every day that I get to haul my grown daughter out of the car into the emergency room." His voice was tight as he eased Alexis out of the car, cradling her to his chest as he headed for the doors.

"Mommy, is Lexi okay?" The one year old tilted her head, bright blue eyes looking up at her mom.

"Lexi's fine, Jo, she just bumped her head a little too hard." The brunette reassured her daughter, following after Rick into the ER.

"No bump," Jo shook her head as her face scrunched up, her eyes following the back of her sister's head as her dad walked farther away.

Rick tuned his wife and youngest daughter out as he grabbed the first nurse's attention that walked by him. "Excuse me, can we get a little help here?"

Kate stood back and watched as they transferred Alexis from Rick's arms to a bed, two different doctors and several nurses hovering over her. A short redhead was firing off questions, looking between the two adults.

"I'm Dr. April Kepner." She smiled softly at the family before glancing at the unconscious redhead. "What happened?"

"S-she slipped. There was a patch of black ice. We live in New York, she's used to the weather. But the ice, she didn't see it." Kate was rambling, stuttering over her words. "We couldn't reach her in time to stop her from falling. She hit her head pretty hard. We live in New York!" She repeated this as if it meant something, groaning to herself when Jo started to squirm.

"Come here, Jo," Rick took the young girl quickly, moving out of the doctor's way.

"We weren't that far away and I've drove in worse. S-she just.. bumped her head." She started to pace, wringing her hands together as she muttered to herself now.

"What's her name?"

"Lexi!" Jo squealed the name, grinning widely at being able to answer a question.

"Alexis Castle," Rick supplied quietly, his eyes studying his unconscious daughter.

April nodded as she turned her full attention back to her patient, stopping one of the nurses. "Go page Dr. Shepherd."

"Already did. Here he comes," she supplied, nodding to the doctor before slipping off to do whatever it was nurses did.

"What do we got, Kepner?" Derek glanced at the hovering family for a moment before looking down at his patient.

"Alexis Castle. Slipped and fell on a patch of ice. Her mother said she hit her head pretty har-"

"Ow," Alexis groaned as she reached up to touch her head. Her head was pounding as she forced her eyes open to look around, her focus landing on the dark haired doctor standing over her. A big grin came to her face as she muttered, "Doctor McDreamy". Without another word, the girl passed back out.

The doctor hovering over Alexis paused as he glanced to April briefly before studying the family again. With a curious frown on his face, he scratched his chin.

"Are you related to Meredith Grey?"

Before Rick can even try to think if the name sounded familiar, Kate's head snapped up and she looked at the doctor.

"She's my cousin, why?"

"Explains so much." The doctor just shook his head, going back to examining the girl.
