Author's Note/Disclaimer: This is my story to celebrate my 1 year
anniversary of being registered on FF.net, my birthday(July 6), and Harry's
birthday. I also wanted to say that I don't own anything in this story. I
don't own the characters, even though I wish I did. I don't own the
letter, my mother does. She wrote it to me the day after I was born, but I
changed it around a little bit for Harry(like changing girl to boy and that
sort of thing). I also added the last sentence and I think it fits well.
Read and review! Enjoy!
Harry looked at all the owls that sat on his windowsill. The only one that was missing was Bandit, Remus Lupin's owl. Sirius had been using him to send Harry letters since the beginning of the summer. The real reason Harry was waiting was because Sirius had promised him a letter from his mother for Harry's birthday. Suddenly, Bandit flew into Harry's room and back outside, dropping an envelope. Harry ripped it open and read the letter inside.
Harry, I have enclosed the letter I promised you. Your mother wanted me to give it to you on your fifteenth birthday. Before you read the letter, there is something you should know. Your mother had five miscarriages before you were born, and she almost died while having you. She really wanted a boy too. I know that she would be proud of you Harry, just like I am now. Happy Birthday! Sirius
Harry read at the second letter in the envelope.
My Dear Harry, I sit here at 6 in the morning still not believing the miracle of your birth yesterday. I mean that I know I wanted a baby, but I had no idea (really none at all) how much. In one day, I have fallen so in love with you that I really can't get over it. I have an urge and a need to be with you and help you get through your day. I guess that's Motherhood! Up until you were born, I had really tried to disconnect you from me. I tried not to have any expectations physically or mentally because of my past problems. But when I saw that you were fine, became a mother like any other. Also, because I attempted to divorce you from my mind, I was shocked that you were a real living human and most especially-a boy. After nine months of preparing myself for a miscarriage like the others, and then you coming along - well, it seems finally that things are going my way entirely. I'm not sure what the future will bring for us, but I know that if you are the only child that I can have - now I can rest easy. No matter what happens, I love you, and nothing can take you away from me now. Love, Lily
As Harry reread the letter a few more times, tears came to his eyes. His mother had done so much for him, and he only wished that he could say something to her. He hoped that she could hear him from where she was when he whispered, "I love you Mum."
