Dean knew full well there was no point in arguing with Sam when he got like this. He got his single-minded obsessiveness from John, narrow tunnel vision focused solely on his objective.

He had tried talking, pointing out the multitude of problems with the so-called "plan" but Sam was having none of it. Rushing in headlong was usually Dean's gig, but not this time.

So all Dean could do was stick close, keep his eyes open and be ready to get between his brother and whatever came their way.

Dean just hoped they both made it out in one piece.
