Summary:Buffy is from Lundi. Spike is from Tiu. Somehow they both manage.
She couldn't stand him! Everything about him was annoying and loud and stupid and…and…stupid!
"Buffy, you can't just walk away from this!" Spike called, gaining speed as he began chasing after her, the sound of her heels clicking against the marble floors the only sound in the long, empties hallway, "Buffy!"
"I'm ignoring you, in case you hadn't noticed!" Buffy yelled over her shoulder, "Just leave me alone!"
She heard his exasperated growl, and she barely kept herself from smiling. She had to remind herself that she was mad at him – but it was so hard not to forgive him when he got that pouty look and puppy dog eyes that he always denied doing – which was why she was walking away.
She kenw that something would happen that would break them apart – she knew it! How on earth could a child of Lundi fall in love with the child of Tiu? It was inconceivable!
And yes, she knew what inconceivable meant. Despite what Spike said, she was intelligent. A daughter of Lundi couldn't be anything less than intelligent! As a warrior she had to be able to plan, as a hunter she had to be able to, well, hunt. It wasn't something just any idiot could do.
And Spike was a son of Tiu, the only people in the galaxy that could even compare to the skills of the Lundi. He was a warrior, the best in the galaxy, destined to do great things. His father had expected him to marry a daughter of Vendredi, specifically Drusilla, but he was never one to follow the rules. Buffy felt her lips curl up in a smile at the memory.
It was the day Spike was supposed to officially meet Drusilla of Vendredi, and the meeting was talking place on neutral soil – Dimanche, Lundi's twin planet. Buffy had been there to visit her cousins and act as a part of Intergalactic Affairs. She was on her way to her suite after a grueling debate over trade routes between all surrounding planets when she was almost run over by the bleach-blonde menace.
And the moment he looked at her, all thoughts of Drusilla left his mind and instead of fantasizing of a faceless woman, he began to dream of her.
Buffy quickly snapped herself from her memories and erased his words from her mind. It didn't matter now. They obviously weren't working out, so what was the point in trying?
She froze as that thought processed in her mind, completely ignoring the fact that Spike was finally catching up to her. Did she really just think that? Did she really just give up? Spike placed his hand on her shoulder and she turned to face him, her eyes wide and mouth parted in surprise.
"Am I a quitter?" she asked, making him furrow his eyebrows in surprise.
"Never." He said fervently. It eased her slightly, but she was still shaken.
"I thought about quitting, just giving up. But that isn't me – I don't give up! I am a Lundian! Lundian's don't…they don't do that!"
"Just because you think it doesn't make it true," Spike said softly, "You're strong, Buffy, the strongest woman I know."
"I'm sorry I keep snapping at you," Buffy murmured into his chest, "You know I love you, right? And I'm not going to give up"
"I love you too, pet." He soothed, "Now let's just go back to our room and talk this out, yeah?"
Buffy nodded into his chest and pulled away slightly to curl into his side as he led her back to their room, unconsciously walking in step with each other.
Even though Buffy was from Lundi and Spike was from Tiu, they still managed to make it work.
