Disclaimer: I OWN NOTHING! DO NOT SUE! I AM PENNYLESS! Whew. Got that out of the way. The snowflake idea is mine though. If anyone else had it, great minds think alike and I mean nothing by it.

A/N: just a little metaphor train of thought from Fraser's point of view that came to me in Chemistry. If you can't guess what happens, tisk tisk tisk. Anyway please r/r.

By the way this is SLASH, though not heavy. If this bothers you, then don't read the damn thing. Sheesh. People these days author walks away mumbling.

Now, on with the story

SNOWFLAKES by Immortal Jedi

People are like snowflakes.

They are pretty, sparkling in the moonlight. Each one is different, yet they all look the same from a distance. They are cold, indifferent. They drift through life on the wind.

I can't drift on the wind. I am not a snowflake. I am a Mountie, different even from a distance, my color standing out in this world of grays. I stand frozen like an ice statue. Unmoving, unable to act yet aware of all the snowflakes swirling around me. My blood which once pumped hot and fast grows more sluggish and cold with each passing day. Slowly I am turning into the ice that is my armor. As the snow swirls I hear names:

Steve, Buck, Robert, Caroline, Dan, Mark, Victoria, Ray, Francesca, Thatcher, Welsh, Turnbull, Huey, Dewey, Louis, Silvia, Maria, Mort.

All are snowflakes, swirling. They don't understand the frozen Mountie of his wolf; they don't even try.

The wind blows and snowflakes swirl away.

Caroline, Dan, Mark, Steve, Robert, Victoria, Louis.I blink and Ray, too, is gone, blown by the wind without warning. I close my eyes against the gust, trying in vain to keep away the tears that fall.but they don't freeze. They keep falling. Soon they cannot fall for the heat is too intense.

Heat?

Belatedly I realized it was warmer. I opened my eyes and almost had to close them against the brilliance. It was Ray! Not snowflake Ray, but a Ray of Sunshine, all golden energy. I feel my armor start to melt and for a moment I panic. It had been too long since I have been defenseless, but then I feel his warm lips on mine.

CRACK!

My blood runs hot searing my frozen veins as the ice breaks away. I am bared to the world; open to the icy sting of the twirling, swirling snowflakes, but I am not afraid. The Ray of Light touches my face and I know I will never be cold again.
