Lindsay dropped to her knees in front of the gravestone, tears streaming down her face. Images of him flashed through her head and try as she might, she couldn't get them out. All she could see was that cocky smirk of him, the way he rubbed the back of his neck when he was nervous or uncomfortable. She could feel his arms around her; hear his voice, with that cute New York accent teasingly calling her Montana. She loved him, and now he would never know.

"Danny…" she began, not entirely trusting her voice. "Danny, I need you to know that I love you. I know that I'm too late, and I wish that I had told you, but I was too afraid. Oh Danny! I was so stupid. I told you to get lost when all I wanted was to be with you, to be in your arms. I'm so sorry, Danny. I miss you so much. I'd do anything to bring you back just for a moment, so that I could tell you how much I love you. I want you to know the truth about how I feel. What am I going to do without you Danny? Why did you leave me here all alone?" She doubled over, crying too hard to speak. She reached into her coat pocket and fingered her gun. She didn't want to be here anymore, not without him. The leaves crunched behind her. Someone was coming. Quickly, she pulled her hand out of her pocket.

"Lindsay."

She turned around. "Danny?" She asked incredulous.

"Don't do this Lindsay," he warned, "I don't want you to hurt yourself."

"But Danny! I just want to be with you!"

"Lindsay? Lindsay! Snap out of it!"

Lindsay blinked several times and Danny was no longer there. Stella stood in his place.

"I was worried when you didn't show up for work," she said quietly, crouching next to Lindsay.

"I'm sorry, Stella," she apologized shakily, "I had to…. I had to tell him the truth," Fresh tears welled up in her eyes.

"You loved him, didn't you?" Stella asked, knowing full well what the answer was.

"Yes," sobbed Lindsay, "I never even got to tell him! I was so scared of getting hurt that I pushed him away! I was going to tell him the day…. the day he…. the day it happened, but I didn't get the chance."

"Oh Lindsay!" Stella exclaimed taking the sobbing young woman into her arms, tears running down her own cheeks. "He loved you too, Linds, I could tell. And I think that he knew how you felt. Even if he didn't, he knows now, and that's all that's important."

A few minutes later, the two friends stood up and prepared to leave. Lindsay turned to the gravestone once more. "I'll always love you, Danny," she whispered.

As Lindsay and Stella walked out of the cemetery, Lindsay kept her eyes on the ground. She looked up suddenly, now knowing why, and saw him, leaning casually against a tree. He grinned cockily and mouthed, "I love you, Montana," before evaporating into mist.

A/N What do you think? I know it's short, but that's the way I wanted it. I tried to make it raw, full of emotion, with out any unnecessary detail. Did it work?
