AN: Yeah, I haven't updated What Did You Expect in like a year and I should be working on that, but I saw this prompt on tumblr and couldn't resist.
Arthur Pendragon entered his regular coffee shop on saturday morning expecting nothing more than a cup of the establishments below-par coffee. He should have known it would be different when he saw the sign out side the door. Normally it read the name of the barista, and a recommended drink. That morning however, it read "YOUR BARISTA IS: 1. HELLA FUCKIN GAY 2. SINGLE. FOR YOUR DRINK TODAY I RECOMMEND: GIVE ME YOUR NUMBER". He should have known it was different when he had come out to his sister Morgana the previous night. He knew it was different when he walked through the door and was confronted by a huge pair of bright blue eyes.
Arthur blinked and carefully schooled his features into an aggressively heterosexual pose and sat down angrily in a table by the corner, determinedly not looking at the striking man he had spotted on the way in.
He started when the man started walking over to him. Was he not looking straight enough? Had this attractive man smelled the gay on him?
"Hi," the man said. As he did, Arthur couldn't help but notice that he had very pretty pale skin and very soft looking dark hair. Why was he talking to him? "I'm your barista, Merlin. Anything I can get you?"
Oh, that explained it. He wasn't coming onto him, he was the barista. WAIT, this was the barista? Arthur flashed back to the sign and stared dumbly at merlin for longer than he should have before blurting out "Wait, are you gay?" instead of his drink order.
Merlin looked affronted before asking "How do you know, what are you on?" Then Merlin looked out the open door and saw the sign. "GWEN!" He yelled louder than Arthur thought possible.
A girl with dark curly hair collapsed with laughter behind the counter. "You only just noticed?" She laughed. She was Gwen, presumably. "Even after that one guy gave you his number?"
"I thought that that was a mistake!" Merlin yelled back, blushing profusely. He turned back to Arthur. "Sorry sir, can I take your order?"
Arthur gained a sudden burst of courage and said "How about I give you my number instead?"
