His fingers laced themselves through the elder man's silken locks. He glanced down at the person resting on his chest, focusing for a moment on the soft feel of his heartbeat and the euphony of his breath. He smiled down at his lover and placed his hands on his reclined back.
"Yao-Yao, why can't we stay like this forever?" Ivan pondered, tracing hearts on Yao's spine. God, he's so beautiful.
"Because life goes on. It's necessary for everything to live and thrive," breathed Yao. His blushing cheek sank into Ivan's pectoral with an airy sigh.
"I don't like that," came the reply after a minute of musing. "When time goes on, more bad things happen, more people get torn apart, more losses occur and more hardships. All I want is to just hold you in my arms and keep you close to my heart. I'll never let you get in danger and no one can hurt you here."
"But time," Yao argued, "leads to more kisses and cuddling and dates and maybe, one day, it'll be time for us to wed."
Ivan glanced at Yao. His eyes asked the question "Do you really think we'll get married?" But they were not shrouded with doubt, they were glistening with a new hope. A slight smile grew, but he continued on his debate. "Even though all that sounds nice, time also leads to tragedy and heartbreak."
Yao huffed. "Time is inevitable, Vanya, you just have to learn to accept it and embrace it. There's no way to escape the power of time."
Pouting out his bottom lip, Ivan requested, "Then can we just stay like this for a really really long time?"
"Of course we can, my sweet Vanya," Yao nestled near to Ivan's heart happily as his lips met his hairline.
