Drip. Drip. I could fell the rain running down my worn and beaten body. My strength was deserting me. I limped slowly away from what was left of the village that had kept me prisoner for so long.

The blade in my hand was stained a dark crimson from the blood of the snake sannin. When I had staggered so far that I couldn't see the smoking remains of the village, I slid down against a tree, no longer able to stand. My vision began to blur.

I had no reason left to live, so I allowed myself to fade in the black abyss. But, as I was slipping away into the darkness, I heard a voice calling me back. It was her voice.

I had longed to hear her for so long, I first thought it was a trick of my mind but then I felt her arms encircle me. I felt my strength return as the warmth of her body filled me. I opened my eyes.

They met the gaze of two beautiful emerald green eyes, just as I remembered them. I could feel her crying into my shoulder and sobbing my name.

I noticed, dimly, that there where two others behind her. One was my comrade to the end, grinning that stupid grin and the other had his nose in the perverted book, 'Come, Come, Paradise'.

The girl, no, the kunoichi in my arms, loosened her grip slightly and looked into my eyes again smiling. Suddenly her face fell, as a thought struck her, and with her eyes she asked me if I would stay. My face broke into the first true smile in ages, and I nodded.

Her face brightened and she embraced me tightly once more. The rain let up, allowing the sun to shine brightly on the four of us.

And together as a team we headed back home, her hand in mine. Everything was perfect, just as it should be...until dobe shouted "I'm hungry! Can we get some ramen?", resulting in loud bangs, shouts of dobe and several lumps on said dobe's head.
