Prologue
Nara walked up Spinner's End, giddy with the recent news. She knocked on the familiar door, and a man with black, stringy, shoulder-length hair, pallid skin, and jet-black eyes answered the door.
"Hello, Nara. I'm glad you came. I have to tell you something."
"As do I, Severus. But you first," Nara said.
Severus Snape let her in, and sighed, "Nara, you know I like you, but I still love Lilly Potter. You know that since she married Him, I've tried to move on, but all I think about is her! I'm sorry, Nara. All I think about is how to steal her away from James. I think it's time we break up."
Nara felt like she had been hit by a brick. She thought for sure they would be together. After all, she was in love with him, but if she really loved him, she would let him go and not tell him the news that she had been so happy about earlier.
"Fine, Severus, I'll go. Good luck with Lilly."
"Listen, Nara…" Severus said, trying to grab her hand, but she was already gone. Forever.
Nara walked down Spinner's End, crying. She thought Severus would be so happy to find out about their child. She never would have known that he would leave her. Ever.
She would make sure that he would not trouble himself for the good of herself, him, and their child.
He would never know.
