Chapter 1 – Disturbance in the Lion
Steven tossed and turned in bed as he attempted to sleep; it was 12:47am. The Crystal Gems had gone on some sort of mission that Garnet and Pearl refused to give him the details of (they had to force Amethyst's mouth shut), and Peridot was hiding out in the bathroom – she really liked it in there.
Steven's day had been unusually uneventful. Pearl kept receiving these 'readings' and left with Garnet and Amethyst, leaving the 14-year old boy behind every time. Peridot tagged along once before realizing it was too boring for her standards.
But Steven's pet, Lion, was oddly worked up – he was usually quite tranquil. Steven's poor attempts to calm him down simply led to Lion being even more disturbed. This was very unlike him, and Lion's disturbance began to upset Steven, hence his inability to sleep.
Lion pawed at Steven's bedside and growled softly – Steven knew, from his previous experiences with Lion really wanting something, that it was important. But he valued rest more.
"Lion, just let me get some rest already," Steven groaned, his voice muffled in the pillows he burrowed his face in, "we can do what you want to do in the morning." Lion growled louder and clawed against Steven's shield of pillows – he ripped most of them. The pressure Steven pressed upon them caused most of their feathers to fall out their newly made sockets.
Steven yelled and threw his pillows toward his TV, knocking it over. "What do you want!?" Lion roared fiercely as he lifted Steven roughly onto his back, and slammed out the door, down the steps and headed straight for the water, his precious, pink mane flowing behind him.
"W - … whoa!" Steven exclaimed, suddenly very awake. "Lion! Lion, stop! LION!" Steven panicked and flailed his arms in the air. He had never seen Lion run so fast, and it didn't help that he was headed straight for the ocean.
Wait, Steven thought to himself quickly, he might know where Malachite is! He might be leading me to her! Aw man, I gotta tell the Gems first!
"Lion! STOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOPP!" Steven yelled – his rose-coloured pet was mere inches from touching the ocean body with his paws – FLOOSH! Before he knew it, there was a great white flash of light, and Steven and Lion were suddenly in – a forest?
"Lion," Steven was really confused, "why did you teleport us to a forest? Where are we?" Lion grabbed his master by the back of the shirt and positioned him in a way so that his vision would be focused on a giant, roadside sign: 'Welcome to the town of GRAVITY FALLS!'
"Gravity Falls, huh?" Steven put his hand on his chin. "What kind of town is in a forest –" SMACK! Steven was hit in the back of the head, and his vision went black.
A/N: So I've always loved Gravity Falls, and I recently found this addictive show, Steven Universe. I thought they were pretty similar, and so, in honour of GF ending today, I wrote this! Prepare for a big story! Takes place right after the events of the GF finale and the most recent SU episode.
