I do not own Nikita. Never have and sadly never will.
Short story following the epic "Give me the damn glock" *sigh* aren't they precious?
They were on their way back home, against Nikita's request to stay the night. Something about damage control of some sort, Ryan had said. She was quite disappointed about it and to top it all of, Michael was ignoring the fact that she now knew his intentions. That bastard pretended she could just forget about it, really? All the questioning glances she threw at him were disregarded by a playful grin and a slight shrug.
His words kept replaying in her head non stop and she could only imagine that small velvet box. Glancing at both sides she realized she was the only one awake on the jet. She understood how Sean and Alex were done for, it had been an exhausting day. However, how could Michael be in such deep and peaceful sleep? She was no doubt freaking out. It was all she could ever dream of but somehow she never actually though it could come true. Yes, they were somewhat free from their past, only a few wrongs to make right (29 to be precise), but still she could not picture a domestic life anytime soon. She's never had a normal life and now Michael was offering one to her. She did not fully understand how much she wanted it until now that it was real. She was absent minded tracing a slender finger along the fabric of his jacket pocket, feeling the smooth edges of the box while doing so. God why was she so damn curious? She needed to see it. After double and triple checking that his love was fully out she carefully dipped her hand inside and let out a small gasp at the contact with the little box. Out of the blue she felt a strong hand take a hold of her wrist.
-Did you lose something there huh darling?- Michael's sleepy voice grumbled close to her ear.
-I was just...uhm- She began fidgeting under his intense glare.
-I'm sure you were- He interrupted her before she could have the time to come up with an excuse and slowly took her hand out of his piece of clothing and gently intertwined their fingers.
-You have a long list of virtues Nik. Patience... has never been one of them - His voice was playful and his eyes were glistening. -Rookie mistake hon, did you really forget I was a light sleeper?- She could actually hear the smile in his voice.
Nikita chuckled and shrugged. Her eyes fixed on her currently naked left ring finger.
-I guess it was worth a try. Also in my defense I wasn't really thinking. You can't really expect me to forget about something like that, now can you?- Her eyes were challenging him.
-Well I'm sorry to tell you this but you'll have to sit tight and wait okay? I'll make it worth it.- In his eyes she saw an unspoken promise. They were warm and loving, she knew the answer to the question he hadn't even asked yet. She suddenly felt at peace, happy.
-You've always had- She said simply with a smile that met her eyes. Letting out a big sigh she rested her head on his shoulder, her smile grew even wider when she felt his lips on her forehead. For the first time in almost 24 hours she closed her eyes. She was content. Everything was perfect; their future bright. Their love alive.
Fin.
Hope you enjoyed it. Please review, only way I can get my mind around writing again.
