After the case was successfully completed, Chance offered their latest client to drive her to the airport.
Winston and Guerrero had already left, with Guerrero promising Winston a lift – if he didn't mind a short stop at the Bay. There was some garbage in his trunk he needed to dispose of.
Naturally, Winston had declined.
"You never asked what actually was on the videos I was blackmailed with", the now ex-client told Chance as they stepped into the elevator.
"Doesn't matter", he replied. "You were in trouble, you needed help."
The woman rested her eyes on him, took in his appearance as if she'd just seen him for the first time. Not only his face, his whole physique... She let her gaze wander down his body slowly and deliberately. "You remind me of someone I met a while ago", she said thoughtfully. "You don't happen to have a cousin or something who works in London as a cop, do you?"
Chance would have chuckled at the idea, but there was a gleam in her eyes which kept him preoccupied. "Not that I know of…" Had the air conditioning broken down again? It was getting a little hot in here, wasn't it?
"How much do you know about numerology, Mr. Chance?", she asked.
"Heard about it", he shrugged. Either the blow to the head he had received this morning had been worse than he thought or she had inched significantly closer to him in the last few seconds. He decided to risk one of his lopsided smiles and tilted his head. "Care to explain?"
"I thought you'd never ask", she smiled back and hit the elevator's stop button.
A/N: Keen Eddie was a TV show about a New York cop (Mark Valley) who ends up working for Scotland Yard. It was a great show, so naturally Fox axed it… I highly recommend it!
