Just so you guys know what inspired this story, my friend just died this morning…so, this seemed fitting. =( Even though the family doesn't care about Sonic (and especially at this time) I'm dedicating it to them… Onward.

She wasn't dead. She just wasn't. She had been alive and laughing with him and the group only yesterday. In fact, she had baked a cake with little Cream and Amy two days ago. There was still some left over in the fridge. That meant she was alive. The simple fact that her cake was still there, meant she was there.

But Tails knew this wasn't true. Although she had left memorizes, and the cake, she wasn't here anymore. Never would be. Cosmo, Tails' best friend, was gone. Forever.

Again, the shocked beyond words fox squeezed the seed in his hand with double the pressure then last time. This was one of the few things he had left to remember her by. Just a seed.

"Tails," a soft voice called, and the fox looked up from his knees, his eyes falling on young Cream.

Nervously, the rabbit wrung her hands with her dress, looking first down at her shoes, then back at Tails. She noted the tear streaks lining his face. His eyes didn't shine like they usually did. Looking into his eyes, she could no longer see the Tails she knew, but now, a fox with no feelings. A fox with no emotion sketched on his face, besides the tears.

"It's-it's time to eat," she said, rather softly, and Tails nodded slowly, as he stared off into space, saying nothing. "We're having chicken tonight," Cream continued. "Your favorite food. I helped Amy make it…"

Tears came to his eyes, for he realized that if Cosmo was still here, she would have helped Cream and Amy with the baking.

An awkward silence hung in the air, and time seemed to stay still. Cream again looked around nervously, and was about to leave, when she was stopped by quiet talking coming from none other then Tails.

"You miss her too, don't you? An'…time will heal this…hurt, won't it?" his blue eyes looked up at Cream, begging for the answer he wanted.

"Of course I miss her, Tails," Cream answered softly, as she crossed across the floor towards him and sat beside him. "She was like a sister to me. It's not the same without her, but…life will go on. Time will heal. Trust me."

Tails inhaled deeply, trying to keep himself calm in front of Cream.

"Was…was it like this, when…you know. You were separated from your mom?"

"Yes, it was," Cream answered, as she thought back to her emotions back then. "And when I saw her again, I had never been so happy."

"But, we won't see her again."

Cream didn't know how to answer this one, at first.

"We'll see her in Heaven, Tails. She believed correctly."

"I know, Cream, but…"

Cream looked up at Tails, her arms still around his poor figure, which had hardly eaten from misery.

And then, she remembered what Tails had told her when she was separated from her mother. A paragraph that had been shared between them, ever since Earth, when ever they were feeling down.

"What God thinks is right, is right and Cosmo's death will someday bring something good. He doesn't do anything without a reason. Because Cosmo sacrificed herself, she helped save the universe. We may not see the good in any of that now, but…God knew what he was doing when he had her die. Trust me."

Tails looked down at Cream, his little sister. And for the first time since Cosmo died, he smiled.

With that off my chest, I hope you enjoyed this rather short oneshot. If you guys aren't Christians, please don't send hate mail my way because I brought that up. It's what I believe, and I felt it needed to be included. End of discussion, regarding that.
