Guardian Academy
"Destiny, wake up!" my father said, shaking me. I moaned and rolled over. "Destiny, it's your first day at Guardian Academy. You're not going to be late." he said, pulling my blankets. I moaned again and sat up. "I know. But I'm nervous. What if I am supposed to have a power?" I asked him, rubbing my eyes. He chuckled. My dad's power was ice and my mother was fire. Like my grandfather said, opposites do attract. "I'm pretty sure that's why you're going to the Academy. It's to help you learn your power, your center and your element. Without an element, your power would be worthless." he said, ruffling my hair. I swatted his hand away and sighed. "I'll go make breakfast. I better see you dressed and ready to go." he said, kissing my forehead. He left my room and I flopped down onto my bed. I pulled on the stupid green collared shirt that we were supposed to wear and put the khaki pants on. I brushed my long brown hair and trotted down the stairs. I ate my breakfast and pulled my backpack on. My stomach did flips as we approached the beautiful building, surrounded by flowers and a stream.
I walked inside and the first thing I saw was the pictures of the students. They all looked so happy with their powers. I sighed sadly and took my schedule from the principal and walked off to my first class. I looked inside my math classroom and gasped. It was a pretty light blue with posters hanging around the room. The teacher smiled at me and made me sit next to a fairy. "Hi! I'm Tooth." she said, beaming. I nodded. "I'm Destiny." I replied, looking at the others in my group. A young boy in a blue hoodie sat in front of me and a pale man sat in front of Tooth. His arms were crossed and he didn't look to happy. "This sucks." he muttered. "Class, my name is Mrs. Green. I hope to have a wonderful year with you." the teacher said, still smiling. The teacher told us we had to introduce ourselves. We had to tell the class our name, our hobby and our center. My stomach did flips again. Tooth went first. "My name is Toothiana but you can call me Tooth. I like to study teeth and my center is memories." she said. A tall man walked up after Tooth and introduced himself. "My name is Shaymus Gray. I like to draw and my center is bravery." he said, smiling at me. I blushed. The boy in the hoodie went next. "My name is Jack Frost. I like to have snowball fights and my center is fun." Jack said. Then it was my turn. "My name is Destiny Nightfall. I like to write stories and play with my older brother, Marcus." I said. "What's your center?" a boy asked. I blushed and looked away. "I-I don't know…" I mumbled. The class began to laugh. The teacher hushed them and came up to me. "It's ok. You'll find out soon." she said. I sat down and watched everyone announce their names, hobbies and centers. I sighed sadly.
Then the bell rang for the next class. Tooth nudged me and showed me to my next class.
