I wrote this during my English and some of my Chem. class. I first showed this to my best friend who is taking a creative writing class this year and being the English teacher's assistant, and she said that it was great. After a couple of editions here and there, I also showed it to a couple of my other friends who say that this poem was too cute. I wrote this when I was listening to...you guessed it, If I Never Knew You. What also helped was the AMV video I had running through my head at the time. If I Never Knew you

We were a part of two different worlds

I was taught to believe that emotions were always in the way; To be cold, emotionless, and brutal meant to ensure survival and victory.

That was before I met you.

You were my greatest enemy; the obstacle standing in the way of my goal.

You touched a part of me I thought to be missing; long dead.

I tried to ignore it, to continue fighting for what I thought was right, but with our every encounter and fight, your presence shone through the darkness of my mind like the morning rays of a dawning sun I once saw.

With much more warmth through you crystal lapis lazuli eyes and kind smile.

That was after I met you.

You once said that we were originally from Earth. That makes us friends.

I thought it to be impossible.

I believed that if we were born in a different era, a different world it may be,

We would have met the way fate intended before.

As I stare out into the vast emptiness of space, I can't help but think that if I never knew you, never would I have changed.

You taught me that to obtain peace

It doesn't have to be through war and violence

Then, through the following of a false god.

Now I can only wish that I had conveyed my feelings; that I had held for you before we departed.

I wished to tell you how I had always felt when you tried to offer your hand in peace.

When you would always show kindness and compassion towards others

Who don't even acknowledge you as a person.

When you always put others worries before your own.

You always offer a warm and caring smile whenever the situation seems

Dark and grim.

Now I hold a new hope that we will see each other again.

Without the need of violence and war.

If I had never known you, my life would be empty as the sky.

Never knowing why.

Nor never would I have changed.

It is our new beginning.
