Quick thing; if overuse of pronouns confuzzles you, don't read this.

It was empty. Her bed, her home, her heart, all empty. She'd always followed the rule of how things happen; no such thing as coinsidence, everything happens for a reason. It was a bit hard to believe that, especially considering recent events. The mare looked around her room and spotted a calender, recent was a lie.

It had happened almost a year ago now, on Hearth's Warming Eve. Everything was going well, practically perfect. She and her marefriend were setting up for the holidays, last minute as always. The mare hated being late, however, her businees made her quite used to it. Her marefriend, on the other hoof, was just a lazy procrastinator. Her marefriend would always put things off to the last minute, decorations, dates, weather patrol.

She'd always warned her not to do such things, but alas she'd refuse to listen. Only three hours from Hearth's Warming day, her marefriend was called in in order to stop a storm from destroying the town and ruining the holidays. The mare sighed, they always had to call in her marefriend simply because she was the only one capable of doing such duties.

A peck on the cheek was received before her love had to rush out the door. A simply phrase, "Don't wait up", heard. "Be back in..." She hadn't wanted to think of the catch phrase, it reminded her too much of her lover. After watching her marefriend storm out to the storm, she trotted over to the fire place to wait. She wanted to sleep, but she couldn't, not with her. The mare look to the window, a streak of color battling off a horrid tornado. She smiled, she loved that color. She simply stared out the window, watching the brawl commence, following the colors. It was then that she no longer saw the colors. The streak had evaporated into thing air. Nothing else was seen, not even the tornado.

She waited. The tornado was gone, why hadn't her marefriend come back yet. Two hours till Hearth's Warming day, still nopony at her door.

Why. Why did it have to happen. They always sent her in alone, knowing so many others cared for her. Knowing she had so much more to live for. Knowing she was an important pony, somepony who would, or could have, someday lead the Wonderbolts in action. But they always needed her first, knowing she still needed her.

The mare was in tears, reminesing on the past events. Nopony else would ever be able to fill the depressing void that was left in her heart and soul. She looked over at her calender once more. It was the third Wednesday of November. Two hours until Thanksgiving. She had already decorated the place for the holiday. Looking at her decore, she smiled. She was thankful for everything. The past is simply history, the future is a mystery, but the right then and there was a gift, thus calle the present.

She was so thankful for what her marefriend had brought to her life.

Rarity was thankful for having that one rainbow bring so much color into her life.
