(August's Note: This is a prologue to a series of stories about the personality cores. and what they were like as humans. I support the theory that personality cores were once human, based on the evidence from GLadOS/Caroline. This takes place before Caroline was uploaded into GLadOS. R/R)

Announcement from Cave Johnson
Cave Johnson: "This is Cave Johnson here. I am pleased to announce the personality cores program. Now of course this is highly confidential, and I'm sure you do like your jobs, am I right?
These personality cores will help regulate our Genetic Lifeform and Disk Operating System's behavior. If you have been gathered here today, you will now be part of the personality core creating team. My scientists have found a way to transfer a person's personality into a core, which will of course help GLadOS with her pesky neurotoxin-releasing problem.
This procedure is mostly painless. Our subjects get a chance to live forever, or until the cores break down, of course."
Dr. Eric Hennings, Senior Scientist: "Mr. Johnson, what happens to the cores' former bodies?"
Cave Johnson: "Ah um, my lovely assistant Caroline will answer your question. Is that right?"
Caroline: "Yes, sir, Dr. Hennings, the bodies will be put into cryostasis for an indefinite amount of time."
Cave Johnson: "Any other questions? No? Well, a team has already put together a list of viable subjects. Let's get started!"
