Hey guys. All I'm going to say is, enjoy it. hopefully you like it. Oh, and the first chapter or two will be quite short because of school and shit. There will be Easter eggs and references for those of you who like to look for those. There are five this chapter.

somewhere in the eastern vale docking bay, 2:37 AM two days before train bomb incident

white fang soldiers POV

"boss, you sure this is safe?"

"yeah, this place is pretty sketchy. Creepy even. Why are we in this part of the city anyways? We already hijacked the weekly shipment of dust."

"will you two shut up? Were here because the higher ups wanted us to check out the dust and power fluctuations over by the loading bay here" the fauness in command informed them. They turned a corner just in time to see a man disappear around another shipping container from a huge red portal which then collapsed on itself. "what the hell was that?" their boss asked himself.

Behind him, two of the other soldiers were grabbed and pulled into the shadows. "maybe it was an explosion. But who was the dude?" another soldier screamed as a metal chain wrapped around his neck and pulled him just outside of the others vision. The remaining 11 soldiers panicked and formed a circle aiming their guns and shooting. Soon after they stopped. "did we get it?" one asked with a shaky voice. "lets fan out. If were lucky, one of them are still alive. If you see something, shoot it!" the boss told them.

They did as he said, and he himself ran for the armored truck they came in. the first group of 2 came across the first two men. "oh god! Their necks are broken. Well, I guess this means don't get caught." as he said this, every light in the area burst. A single black rose petal fell to the ground. "what the h-" he never finished because a chain had grabbed him and pulled him high into the air breaking his neck. The second man freaked out and fired his entire clip at the spot his comrade disappeared to.

From behind, a standard issue combat knife flew into his back killing him. In another part of the loading bay, another group saw a black streak go past and one of them ran away. He turned the corner, and a crate fell on him crushing him. The other man fell to the ground and pretended to be dead. It didn't work. The final group met with the large group of five near the armored transport, and reported nothing. "wait where are the other four?" before they could say anything a small black sphere rolled between their feet. It exploded with a huge blinding white flash, and incinerated each of them, save for their bones.

The boss jumped into the transport and locked the doors. "get me the hell out of here!" the driver didn't move. Upon further inspection, he found the driver had a bullet in his head.

The next morning

detective Timothy Branch POV

this could be a problem. The lieutenant sat at his desk looking at the crime scene photo's. Usually, pictures didn't do the real thing justice. This time they did just fine. 16 victims each bearing the symbol of the white fang. There was no way they all were killed in self defense. They were the targets. 6 men hanged by the neck with spiked chains, making for a large pool of blood, 7 were nothing but bones. The final two both had stab wounds in the back.

The only leads was a pair of bloodied tire tracks, a 5. caliber silver shell casing, and a silver cross covered in black rose petals. All in all, I was not looking forward to this case, especially if this guy/girl has a thing for killing everyone who has a gun. I grabbed my gun and my badge, and put on my coat. I got up and headed for the door while lighting a cigarette in my mouth.

2 weeks after the train bomb incident

assassin's POV

there she is. Ruby rose, cinder falls least favorite person right now. She helped put roman in jail, which was supposed to happen, but it wasn't fun. And she had led her team in taking down 4 bases of operations in the last 3 days. We know because we found black rose petals at every pile of rubble. not much evidence to go on, but enough for cinder. And that's why I was hired to kill her. She had never seen me, so getting close wouldn't be a problem. And ruby was expecting someone to deliver her weapon parts to her in a minute. But he, of course, is dead. she will wait until I pull the trigger.

I pulled back the bolt of the silenced sniper rifle I had with me on the roof and looked down the scope. Right between her eyes. I tightened my finger around the trigger and pulled. Nothing. I pulled the bolt back again in case I just didn't have a bullet in the barrel. I pulled the trigger, and nothing happened again. I looked away from the scope. oh. There was a knife impaled in the barrel right underneath the scope. "so are we going to do this the easy way or the hard way?" a strange voice said. The rifle fell from my hands.

I turned and shot the man in the chest with a pistol. He didn't even flinch. He grabbed me by the throat and slammed me into the roof. I didn't get a very good look at him, but he was wearing a pure black hooded cape, and a black leather matrix style trench coat with blood red detailing. Probably light weight bullet proof armor too. His face was completely hidden by the capes hood. He lifted me up again and threw me over the edge. I hit a car, totaling it. I was lucky my aura is stronger than most.

I got up, trying not to strain my sore muscles. I looked up and saw ruby. I pulled a knife from my belt and lunged at her. Get the mission done no matter what. She started to speed away, and the knife only cut her arm. I turned to try again, and the man from the roof punched me in the gut. I fell to my knees and coughed up some blood. That guy punches hard! I heard him asking rose if she was okay, and not facing me. Run away, live to kill another day. I got up and ran as fast as I could towards my getaway ship in the alley.

I turned the corner, and jumped into the cockpit. The aircraft took off, and I flew away. Little did I know I had a tracking device on my stomach.

K.B POV

well, that was fun. he'll think twice before trying to kill ruby rose next time. I turned to make sure she was alright one last time, then I walked off. Luckily ruby was still too confused about what was going on to ask any questions. It wouldn't be convenient for me if she asked...well, anything really. I opened the door to my current home, the ravens claw hotel room 35. I went to the bathroom, which had weapon parts scattered everywhere inside, and picked up my precious killing machine. It was a compact fold-able weapon with superior tech and equipment over most modern stuff. bigger, higher impact dust infused bullets, stronger sharper and lighter blades, and a built in grappling hook.

The color scheme matched my battle outfit. Mostly black, and crimson red. Its the last thing they never see coming, as I like to say. I took off my black steel toe boots, and tossed them aside. I picked up my tracker off the bed, and checked on my 'friend' from earlier. He was still in the plane. I put it down, and pressed the mute button on the TV remote, and my bed folded into the wall revealing my study. Talk about monsters under the bed.

Of course, it was allowed only for me because I bought the room from the hotel. I jumped down, and the bed fell back over. Inside, I had a large mahogany desk with a blue button, a leather wheel desk chair, and a huge billboard on the left side. On the right side I had a large automated wardrobe. At the back, a safe with an old, but reliable locking mechanism. No one knows how to crack those anymore. And at the front, a door. It led to the experiment room. Where I would test new technology I stole from the white fang. The button was for emergencies.

I sat down in my chair, and put a picture of ruby on the billboard, and attached a string from the assassin to her. I put another string, and attached it to my picture, the middle to a picture of the rose petals and/or cross I left behind at the first scene, and the end to ruby. I sat down, and stared for a few seconds. That's it! They must think that ruby is me!

I put my special weapon inside the safe, on a suspended stand beside the other precious valuable I had stored. I re-opened the bed door, and jumped out using my aura to boost the height of the jump. That's part of my semblance. I could channel my aura to imitate just about any other semblance. Several at once even, but first I have to unlock them. The bed closed. I put on my boots, and my hood returned to its normal place over my head concealing my identity.

I strolled casually outside and considered my options at the hotel garage. Which I also bought from them. Okay fine, I bought the entire hotel. And do I regret it? Not at all. Who expects a secret base to be under a cheap hotel room? That's what I thought. Do I want to be fast, stealthy, or both? Hmm. I picked the one that would grab the least attention. A pastry delivery truck. And the best part? Plenty of room for stolen tech.

I made my way onto the main road, and made my way towards the place where the assassin had landed. Hopefully one of Romans main goons would be there. They would be sending a message for me. I arrived at Monty drive bakery. Isn't it funny how things work out sometimes? I drove around back, and shimmied up the water drain to the roof. Perfect! A skylight. I looked in and activated the listener on the tracer. He was talking to a TV monitor.

What are you saying?

"ah, Tealk your back. I assume from the news that you failed."

"fuck yes I failed roman! Ruby isn't the ghost and you know it"

"Of course I know little red isn't ghost. But that was cinders instructions. besides, I thought it would be amusing."

they call me the ghost? Awesome! Wait, roman ordered ruby's death? From inside jail? And who's cinder? I climbed inside closing the window behind me, and walked along the beams and rafters. I slowly made my way to the fuse box, and threw my knife at it, cutting the power. My vision in the dark was superior, and I used that a lot. "shit! He's here!" Teilk yelled. I let the chain around my arm drop, and wrap around his leg.

I jumped down landing noiselessly, and he flew up in the air very noisily. He hit the roof, and fell into my raised knee. His back broke, and he fell. Wether he was dead or paralyzed I don't know. I turned to where Romans voice had been coming from. Gone. I thrust my elbow backwards, hitting someone in the nose. The backup power came on, and the TV reappeared with a lot of guys. This would be fun. 2 hours later, most of the remaining soldiers being cowards, ran leaving the last three men alone. I could see their weapons trembling in their hands.

"don't worry, I wont kill you. Yet."

The police station 7 hours ago

Timothy branch POV

I sat at my desk with my face in my palm. I sighed and looked up. "so let me get this straight. You found ruby rose as the victim of a one man attack, she and the man both survive the attack, and you arrest her for murder. Are you retarded or something?!" I asked the private. "I don't understand. Did I make some sort of mistake? She's a huntress, and she makes rose petals" if it where possible, I would have further demoted him. But unfortunately there was no such reason as being stupid for a demotion. And he was already the lowest rank.

"first off, her teammate is Weiss Schnee. Second, she is a first year huntress in training. first year! Third, flower shops here are so common and roses even more so that it could be anyone in this damn city! And, if you had read any of her files, you would know that she wouldn't hurt a fly unless its a creature of Grimm. and I happen to know her father quite well, in fact he's our boss! There is no way in hell it was her"

he looked at me as if I were talking gibberish. "but then they wouldn't attack her" oh. my. God. How is it that I had to get the guy with a skull thick as cement as an investigation partner? I leaned back in my chair, and folded my hands. "please, save us the trouble of having not only the press, but the Schnee's, Ozpin and the chief on our asses by letting her go and removing all charges" I waved Lenny off with my hand and he left to go do as I said.

I sat there for a few minutes thinking. I watched the recording on the scroll of the arrest earlier when they returned to the station, and thinking back to it I thought of something. I turned to my scroll once more, and brought up all the security camera footage of the streets. Watching it all I was able to pick up was the attacker falling onto a car completely destroying it. Wait, no one ever told me he fell from the roof. And people don't just go around jumping off of roofs. besides, he could have shot her.

I didn't even think of that. Maybe the real fight didn't even take place on the street. I brought up footage of the roofs on that side of the road. I scrolled through, stopping when I saw someone on the roof with a sniper. After reviewing the whole tape I came to a conclusion. Although ruby wasn't the guy, he still seemed to care about her. Or at the very least protect her. Maybe we could use this. I called my partner. "Baker, do me a favor and have someone shadow ruby rose. I've got a hunch this guy might come after her"

I got up and grabbed my keys, and went outside to my patrol car. I got in and left to go home. it was getting dark, and I had already pulled three all nighters as it was. I was eager to see my family.
