Dear Sister Rosalia Trewick,
My dearest Rosalia, I am so glad you are back in Ostwick. While I had missed you and was so happy to see you here in Ferelden, something happened to me that almost no one would believe. But before I get to that, do you remember the verse in the Chant of Light for the Darkspawn? Threnodies 8:13?
"And so is the Golden City blackened, with each step you take in my Hall. Marvel at perfection, for it is fleeting. You have brought Sin to Heaven and doom upon all the world."
This is the verse that tell us what happened when the seven magisters were cast out of the Golden City by the Maker. That by walking into the Golden City, the magisters corrupted it into the Black City and corrupted themselves into the first Darkspawn.
Ever since then, Darkspawn and the five Blights they cause has brought doom upon all the world. They brought doom to the Dwarves, who once had large kingdom to their name before the Darkspawn. Whom now only have two cities, who hate each other, and the groups of surface Dwarves. They brought doom to the Elves of the Dales, who looked away when Orlais needed help fighting against the Darkspawn horde during the second Blight. Whose land was marched on afterwards by Orlais's faithful under an Exalted March. They brought doom to all the lands ruled by Humans, whom the Darkspawn can trace themselves back to. Whose lands is still in shock in the latest Blight.
My question to you, my dear Rosalia, is this: are the Darkspawn forever stuck being mindless monsters?
You may wonder why I would ask such a question. I ask it because I know the answer. And the answer is no.
From your dear friend,
Sister Gussalen Evelyn.
