A/N This just randomly came to my head one day. Tell me if you like it. One-shot.
Disclaimer: I don't own PJO.
"Did the boys seriously have to challenge us to a battle of brains vs brawns?"
"Yes Piper, stop complaining. Now if you are all ready, then help me finish preparing."
"Why am I on your team anyway?"
"Are you brawns?"
"No."
"Then that means that you have brains."
"How do you know if I do or not?"
"Because it's obvious, and I know these things. Any more questions?"
Annabeth would never admit this out loud (especially around Piper), but in many ways, she saw Piper as one of the smartest people she knew. Sure, maybe she wasn't a child of Athena, and maybe she didn't get all A's or B's, but there are more types of smarts than just book smarts.
Piper was much like Percy in the fact that they were both street smart. They knew how to think on their feet, and often, their best ideas came as they were staring into the face of death (or better known as the ugly face of a monster, Piper hadn't actually seen death like Percy). Unlike some of the Aphrodite girls, Piper knew what she was doing when it came to battles. Not only could she kill half a dozen hellhounds in under half a minute, but she also looked good doing it.
Piper McLean was special to say the least. She was beautiful, brave, and she had more of a heart than all of the other Aphrodite girls combined. Annabeth had also learned alot from her. Sometimes, brains (or even brawns) weren't always the way to go. Sometimes, you needed to follow your heart.
So yes, you could say that Piper was smart.
"If I held up a mirror to your face, would we see something beautiful?"
"It depends if your talking to you, me, or the mirror. Which do you choose?"
"The mirror, of course."
"Why?"
"Because I agree with the mirror, and the mirror is an inanimate object, so it can't lie."
"And what does the mirror say?"
"Annabeth Chase is beautiful."
Piper would never admit this out loud (especially around Annabeth), but in many ways, she saw Annabeth as one of the prettiest people she knew. Sure, maybe she wasn't a child of Aphrodite, and maybe she didn't have charm oozing out of her every pore, but that didn't mean that she wasn't pretty.
No, pretty wasn't the right word. Pretty is like saying cute. It doesn't give the whole picture. It implies that something is missing. No, the correct word was Beautiful. Annabeth was physically beautiful, sure, with her long princess curls, and her beautiful grey eyes. Yes, they may look intimidating at first, but when you looked closely, you could see a passion that couldn't be seen at first glance. Annabeth Chase was beautiful on the inside too. She was intelligent, and she was kind, even if that's what you didn't see at first.
Annabeth Chase was special to say the least. She was strong, passionate, and had more brains than all of the other Athena children combined. Piper had also learned alot from her. There are times when your heart doesn't know what to do, and you have to stick to the plans. And when you do need to use your heart, well, passion helps feed it.
So yes, you could say that Annabeth was beautiful.
