ALRIGHT. THIS TAKES PLACE WHEN CORA SENDS EMMA AND NEAL TO THE WOODS IN STORYBROOKE. THE EPISODE IS 2X16.
"You two, out of my way." Cora said and with a movement of her hand, Emma and Neal were enveloped in purple smoke.
Once the smoke cleared they weren't in Gold's shop anymore but, more like the middle of the woods. They had nothing with them but a sword and phone where there was no cell service. Great, just great. The two ex's, alone, when neither of them wanted to be where they are.
Emma had taken a deep breath and decided to start walking in any direction. The quicker they got out of there, the quicker they can get back to save her family and Neal's now too. She didn't have to like being stuck there with him, even though she possibly still had feelings for him. But he was Henry's father and Gold's son. That part still made her uneasy.
As she felt Neal come up next her, she instinctively shoved her hands into her coat pocket, a heavy sigh escaping her mouth. As she looked over at him quickly, she could tell that he was lost in his own mind, thinking about things as well and was probably worried about his dad.
"Hey, don't worry, we'll get out of here soon enough."
Neal looked over at her confused. She thought he was worried? No, he wasn't worried, he knew they would be out of there quickly because even though he spent a lot of time out of his world he was still good at navigating in the woods. No, he was thinking about the fact that he was walking around with his ex whom he might still have feelings for and that he was engaged.
"I'm not worried. I've been lost in worst and gotten out quicker than anything. Trust me, I can get us out of here in a pinch."
"That's the same thing you said that one time in Delaware. And what happened then?"
"Okay, how was I supposed to know that there would be so many locks on that door?"
"You could have just asked."
"Yeah, like that's always helpful."
"Or that time in D.C. You thought it would be easy to break into a certain motel but, didn't think they would have key cards."
"Okay, motels are NOT supposed to have key cards. It's like a written rule."
Emma looked over at him clearly confused and slightly annoyed. He was really trying to tell her it was a written rule "You have got to be kidding me."
"No, I'm not really. It's a motel, Emma. They don't have anything that nice for anyone to steal. Why would they need key cards?"
"Security reasons."
"Again, nothing nice to steal."
Emma grumbled to herself. She couldn't believe she had to be stuck, in the woods, with him. Why couldn't Cora have separated them? They hadn't spoken much since New York and now they were in an area where they could hash everything out.
"You really haven't changed that much."
"I like who I am."
"That makes one of us."
"Oh, really? You want to get into that? What about that one time in North Carolina? You couldn't help but love that I was me."
"Well it wasn't my fault."
"What? That you got into an argument with a clown?"
"He was trying to rip me off!"
"It was Ronald McDonald! He literally is the clown for McDonald's."
And during the four hour walk back to town this was exactly how Neal and Emma spent their time. Bringing up old memories from the past, arguing over who was right or wrong. Playfully pushing each other, laughing at something the other said. Completely forgetting about what had transpired over eleven years ago and acting as if they were never apart. Neither knowing that True Love was still between the both of them.
