Prompt: Being Sorted by the Sorting Hat (Scenario)
Word Count: 408
Lucia Malfoy's nerves were all over the place as she looked around the Great Hall. All eyes were on her and the other First Years coming through the door as the Sorting Hat worked its magic. She had heard stories from her father about how the hat was crafty and could tell what your house was almost immediately. Her mother told her that she would have to be careful with what she thought as well, because the Sorting Hat took her thoughts into consideration. Having the Malfoy name gave her the automatic assumption that she would be in Slytherin, just like her mother and father; so Lucia wasn't worried at the time.
Now that she had made friends with Neva Longbottom and Hilary Bones, Lucia wasn't so sure. If it hadn't been for her bloody cat wanting to run out of its cage, she might not be in this situation. Neva and Hilary had grabbed her cat for her, and Lucia had to give her gratitude. Once the discussion of pet shenanigans came into play, there was no turning back.
Her thoughts were all over the place with her parents' reactions, her own desires, and what the Sorting Hat would do.
"Macmillan, Jordan …"
"Macnair, Amara …"
Lucia sucked in a deep breath; she knew she was next.
"Malfoy, Lucia …"
It was quiet as she made her way to the stool. She had that effect on people because of her surname, and she was only eleven! Once she was on the stool, Lucia squeezed her eyes shut while the hat was placed on her head.
"A Malfoy, mmm the clear giveaway of what you would be…" the Sorting Hat said. Lucia looked uncomfortable as she thought of not wanting to disappoint her parents but still wanting to be with her friends.
"A logical Malfoy at that! There's only one place that fits you well, girl."
Lucia clasped her hands, thinking that it was not going to end well.
"Ravenclaw!"
Lucia gasped in surprise. Her father was going to kill her! Then again, it wasn't the house that she heard her father complaining about the most and her mother would approve. On top of that, Lucia was positive that she'd be able to associate with her friends no matter what house they're in.
Lucia smiled as she walked over to the Ravenclaw table to have a seat; she knew she shouldn't have been worried about the Sorting Hat.
