Well, this little story popped into my head and just wouldn't go away. So far it's a one-shot; I don't know about later. I'm sorry that I haven't been updating, but, unfortunately, sometimes life calls and reality drags you by the ear until you listen to it.
"Severus, are you all right?" Those were the first words out of Lily Evans's mouth when she saw her best friend on the platform. There was an ugly bruise on his cheek.
"Of course," Severus Snape said quickly. "Why do you ask?"
Instead of answering, Lily gently touched his bruised cheek. "Oh that—that's nothing." He said, trying to find a suitable excuse.
"He forgot to wear his helmet," Petunia said with a sniff. The freak needed her help with lying; honestly, she'd never seen someone so inane in this area of expertise. If it wasn't for the challenge, she would never help him, but she couldn't let him ruin her art.
"What do you mean?" Lily asked suspiciously.
Petunia glowered at her. The freak was the one that should be treated with suspicion, not her. "He was teaching a girls' self-defense class that I went to; of course, I'd never have signed up if I'd known he'd be there. Still, it was decent."
"Is this true, Severus?" Lily asked.
"Yes," Severus said, nodding. He mentally thanked Petunia for coming up with a story for him. "I didn't realize that they hit so hard." Petunia gave a short, derisive laugh. He had taught her how to fight, and he still wouldn't admit that girls could hit harder than boys.
"Do mine ears deceive me, or did I just hear that wimpy Snivellus Snape got trumped by a couple of girls?" James Potter and Sirius Black had just joined their conversation, uninvited and with a superior air about them. Snivellus Snape, Petunia thought. Remind me never to call him that. I don't want to be associated with these arrogant jerks.
"Oh, yes," Severus said. "I thought I'd try seeing what it was like to be you two for a day." At least he's good with comebacks, if not making up stories on the spot. Petunia approved.
"Yeah right," said Sirius. "You couldn't ever be as good as us, especially when you get beat by a couple of Muggles."
At this Petunia walked over to him and cocked her head inquisitively. "So, do you really think that only wimp wizards can be brought down by Muggles?" she asked airily. Please, please give me a reason and I swear I will.
"Well, yeah, of course," Sirius said. "We have magic, for Merlin's sake, which can practically take out anything."
"I see," she said, and took a step before swinging around and punching him in the stomach. Perfect. He dropped, lowly groaning in pain, not wanting to attract attention to his defeat. "I'd recommend watching out for those Muggles. They're full of surprises." Then she stalked off toward the barrier, saying, "Bye freaks, have a nice term!"
Severus, not one to blow his cover, yelled, "Your right hook was a little weak; remember to practice your form!" And, grinning, he took Lily aboard the train, leaving Sirius and James to help themselves.
Petunia paused at the barrier and watched. Treat her right, little freak. Have a nice term.
So? Good? Bad? Review?
