Authors note: Dear Euripides, I honestly hope that I'm not disgracing your work.

Staring at herself in the mirror, Medea stopped sobbing and decided that it was time to take some action. She couldn't let others see her in this detrimental state, particularly her children. Living in Corinth had already a deleterious influence on her sons; she refuses to give the Corinthians any more justifications to treat her in such a cavalier manner. It was not before long the Nurse rushed in to interrupt her grandiose thoughts.

"Madam, madam!" she rushed hurriedly, "someone has made his way to the gynaikon." Medea's face remained calm, however, just the widening of her eyes was enough to articulate her surprise. The nurse continued, almost laughing, "claims to be King Aegeus ma'am, but I am sure that he is just another fool in business with your husband." The nurse immediately cut off her speech mid sentence at the word husband – she had almost forgotten Jason's betrayal. The treachery that led everyone in the city on the edge of the seats, guard up, prepared for what was to come. Medea's reputation had preceded her.

"Let him be," Medea directed, standing up to fix her robes. Drawing a breath in, she refocused herself. This could be the opportunity that she had been anticipating for. She observed a strange look from the Nurse, but never mind that. She has plotted her retribution, and if the years that she had spent with Jason haven't taught him about her, these actions would never let him forget his mistakes.

It was regarded almost a horror if any man were to find themselves in the women's quarters. There were severe punishments that even peasants were not afraid to carry out. Medea wondered who this enigmatic man was. Perhaps it really was the utmost respected King of Athens; after all, she has heard some stories regarding his inability to produce an heir.
