The dress and veil were of the purest white, and crafted delicately with fine lace. They were a little old-fashioned but still elegant, and were made for the most petite and delicate of figures. They had belonged to his mother, had been made for the day she had become the wife of the Cavallone Ninth - his father - in front of a large crowd of friends, family and allies. No expense has been spared for their wedding day. Although the whole day had been special to his mother, the custom-made wedding dress and veil had been of particular significance. She had kept it safe with the hope that one day, her son's wife would wear it when they were married.
There was no crowd of well-wishers on the day that Dino Cavallone made his vows of commitment. There were no witnesses, and there was no grand banquet to celebrate the occasion. But there was one promise, one tradition that Dino felt he had to keep. His lover would only be with him for another few minutes, and it was impossible to say when they would next be together. In Dino's opinion, there was no better time for what he wanted to do.
"Wait, Kyouya. Before you leave, I have something I want to say to you. But first, I need you to wear this."
Kyouya's expression was curious as Dino took a box from beneath his bed, and then dangerous as Dino took his mother's lacy white veil from the box and placed it upon his lover's head. The Cavallone Boss smiled, even as Kyouya looked murderous. It clashed spectacularly with Kyouya's dark suit and violet tie, and Kyouya's expression at that moment certainly did not fit the "blushing bride" stereotype. Dino doubted that anything in the world could make him feel happier than he felt at that moment.
"Cavallone..."
"I want you to be the one to kill me, Kyouya," Dino breathed, lips brushing along the elegant curve of his lover's throat, the lace of the veil tickling against his own skin. "If you're not the last thing I ever see, I swear that I'll refuse to fade until you're by my side. You're the only one who's worthy of ending my life. Can you keep that promise?"
"You want to die, Bucking Horse?" Kyouya questioned, and Dino laughed against the shell of his ear, his bare chest pressing against Kyouya's clothed one.
"Only when the time comes. And only by your hand. Ti amo, Kyouya."
"... I can keep that promise, Cavallone," Kyouya replied, voice a low, satisfied purr as Dino nipped at his earlobe. "Now may I take this ridiculous thing off my head?"
"If you must," Dino said, lips curving into a sly grin as Hibari took the veil off his head and gave it a disdainful glare before placing it back in its box. "Just be glad you're too tall to wear the dress."
The next day, Dino told himself that the black eye that marked Kyouya's retribution was worth the pain, if only for the light blush that had appeared on Kyouya's cheeks as he'd stormed away.
