Of Cotton Candies and Playing Dress-up.

A/N: Just a short Cade friendship fic. Hope you like it!

"Jadey... Jadey...Jadey!" Cat shouted, snapping her fingers in front of her best friend's face.

"What!" The other girl snapped, clearly annoyed. "Can't you see I'm busy?"

The red-head looked down at Jade's hands to see that she's playing with her scissors. Well, she was cutting up stuff. You know, pointless stuff, like photos that has Beck in it. Or Tori. Or both.

"I'm sorry!" She immediately apologized, shielding her face from Jade's view, afraid of the pair of "special" scissors that Jade was holding.

"What do you want, Cat?"

"Nothing! It's just that your mom said that you came in all upset so I came here to see you and make sure you're okay and you're not hurt cause one time my brot-"

"I'm fine!" She quickly snapped before her friend tells yet another (crazy) story about her (even crazier) brother.

"I brought you cotton candy!" Cat announced brightly, opening her bag and taking out a flat cotton candy. "Wait... what happened? It was fluffy when I put it in..."

"Cat, I don't want a cotton candy."

"But it makes people happy!"

"Well, I don't want it!"

"But Jadey-"

"I'm fine, alright!" Jade shouted in a tone that sounds like anything but fine.

"No, you're not!" She stubbornly replied. "I just want to help you, okay?" She blinks her eyes innocently and Jade felt herself slowly being won over.

"Okay. Fine. I've been a little upset because Beck was acting all calm and careless." She scoffs lightly. "It's like it doesn't hurt him half as much as it does me. I hate it."

"I know!" Her friend exclaimed in a cheerful tone, "We can do fun stuff like we used to do! Watch movies, draw pictures, and sing! We haven't done a duet in a while, right?"

"I'm sorry. I'm just not in the mood right now."

"Oh. Okay then. But, I know another way to make you feel better. It always works on me so just trust me on this, okay?" She said it in such a tone that Jade can do nothing but nod. When Cat uses that voice on her, she never said no. It's just one of those things that you can never explain why. She always tells herself Don't give in, don't give in but it never works.

"Mkay. Now do this," Cat instructed, opening her arms.

Jade does the same, confused. "Cat, what are you-"

Before she could finish her question, the smaller girl stepped into her arms and wrapped her own smaller ones around her friend's waist. Jade – once again – caved in and hold her best friend tight.

They stood there for God knows how long, it could've been five minutes or fifteen minutes or an hour, but it didn't matter. It made Jade happy. And she actually smiled. For the first time in days, she genuinely smiled.

"So, do you feel better?"

"Yeah, Cat. Thanks."

"No problem." She smiled back, and suddenly an idea struck her. "Ooohh! Let's go dress up! Do you still have that box with all the costumes we collected?"

"Yep. Right there." Jade pointed to her closet.

Cat ran towards it, squealing excitedly.

Some things never change, Jade thought, smiling slightly before following her friend.

The End.

A/N: I don't know why I did this. No idea. Just... Yeah. Review?
