Sam opened the door to the infirmary. It was mid-afternoon and had been a pretty slow day at the SGC. Only one nurse was on duty and she was studiously ignoring Jack's attempts at amusing himself.
"This is getting to be a bad habit, Carter," Jack said with a grin.
"What is, sir?" Sam replied, puzzled, as she pulled up a stool.
"Us, meeting here, like this," he said, gesturing to the surrounding beds and his own body reclining on one. "Someday, Carter, I'm gonna take you on a real date."
"Date?" she burst out, unsure whether she was scandalized or ecstatic.
Jack raised his eyebrows. "You know, one of those things that involve two people spending time together." Sam didn't reply. A little crestfallen, Jack tried to give her an easy out. "It doesn't have to be that kind of date."
"Oh," Sam said flatly. Somehow, it didn't sound as appealing if it wasn't going to be that kind of date.
"It can be," Jack said quietly, his eyes hopeful.
"Ok, sir. It's a date," she said with a smile.
Just a little Sam/Jack snippet, set sometime after my other piece Just Once. My settings are vague for Sam/Jack because I haven't seen the entire show multiple times.
