So I'm finally back to writing stories. For anyone who cares, I don't know if I'll actually update A Vampirical Tale but maybe I might remake it. This prologue is pretty short and it's probably not really descriptive but if someone has a suggestion please tell. Note that only this chapter is in first-person, the rest of the story, except for maybe the epilogue, is in third-person.
"Sonic! You're so wonderful!"
"Sonic! Sonic! Sonic!" They would cheer. Cheering for, in their opinion, the world's greatest hero. I'd call bullshit on that. Their so called hero is nothing more than an arrogant prick and a fool. I would know, after all I have fought alongside that blue prick more than a couple of times.
I could perhaps reveal his hidden side to these foolish insects but then nobody would believe me. While he is the great and mighty 'hero', to them I am his opposite, his evil side. Idiots. I have saved their lives and this damn planet several times and yet I get no rewards, no recognition. By myself I have killed a powerful alien leader without lifting a finger and who gets all the damn credit? Sonic the fucking Turtle.
That's all he is, a damn slow turtle. I outmatch that blue turtle in everything he claims to excel at.
If there is anything that bothers me it's that blue worm's experience as a hero. I would never admit it but-
I shook my head. I seriously need to stop this damn inner monologue. I took a deep breath and then let it out. I looked down from my gray perch on the edge of an apartment building's roof. The sun was shining today which meant lots of the vermin known as humans would be walking around today.
I sighed. Every once in a while, I wonder what it would be like being in Blue Turtle's role? Of course I wonder this when I feel fucking insane. Despite that, I still find myself wondering? What would happen? What would be different? Why am I still thinking about this crap?
Ugh, have I am been smoking something in my sleep? I would never ever try to imagine myself in Blue Turtle's role as a hero.
I dropped down from my perch and onto the streets below me. I smirked as I landed on the ground, much to the surprise of the vermin around me. Almost immediately I ran off leaving a yellow trail behind me.
"So you have an honest wish eh?" I heard someone speak. I turned my head left and right. Nothing.
"What the hell?" I mutter silently. There should be nobody talking to me, especially since I'm going faster than that turtle could ever hope to go.
"You do not know what your honest wish is, Shadow the Hedgehog?" It spoke again. This time I stopped.
"Show yourself!" I shouted. I took a look around. Nothing but green grass and leafy trees.
"As you wish," The voice replied. Almost instantly a shadowy figure appeared in front of my eyes. I couldn't really see anything other than a golden mask and a dull white cloak.
"Who are you and what do you want?" I growled.
"Please don't feel threatened. I am the Wishmaker and I am here to grant your wish," the Wishmaker stated.
"Wish? What wish?" I asked.
"Your wish to be the hero. To take the role as the hero from Sonic the Hedgehog," the Wishmaker answered.
"And just how the hell do you know that?"
"There is not a heart I cannot peer into,"
I paused. Does this Wishmaker actually think it can look at something I don't have?
"Au contraire, you think you don't have a heart but you do,"
"Uh huh sure," I rolled my eyes.
"Believe what you wish but enough of this idle discussion, I shall now grant your wish," the Wishmaker waved his hands and a dark blue whirlpool appeared in front of me. "Jump in this vortex and you will enter a world where you can be the hero,"
"Yeah right," I whispered.
I took a few steps back and then rushed towards the vortex. I dived right in.
