Title: Arriere Pensee
Rating: G / PG
Paring: Will/Jack
Summary: Elizabeth thinks about Will. And why he's not been 'home' much. Implied slash.
Disclaimer: I don't own Pirates of the Caribbean or any of the characters in it. (Trust me, if I owned it the movie would be way different-ish (I'm not saying that the movies bad or anything though *g*))
Warning: Implied Slash: Will/Jack.
Notes: ...This was written for...well I have no idea. This was basically the only idea I could think of for a fanfic after seeing the movie. It was soooo good. Well this is basically about Elizabeth thinking about Will. Yeah, that's it...I think. Just read it (BTW Arriere Pensee means an unstated doubt that prevents you from accepting something wholeheartedly.)

Arriere Pensee

Elizabeth wonders how it happened. Why she didn't see it, when it was so obvious. It was because she was so in love, she didn't want to admit it. But she knew. She knew it from the very beginning. It was the accepting part she wasn't so good at. But still, she knew.

She knew why Will wasn't there so many times, why always something 'unexpected' came up. Why he missed so much important times. Why he was gone for sometimes for months on end.

In the beginning she thought it had to do with Wills blood. His bloodline made it easier to accept. Made it easier to deny the truth of the matter. And it was a good distraction too, to just imagine that Will wanted to really see if he had a real pirates blood in him. But of course once he tasted what it was like to be a pirate he couldn't stop wanting the thrill of being a pirate.

At least, that's what she believed at first. She didn't want to believe that he was the one who Will visited when Will should've been at home, with her. Didn't want to believe that he was the reason Will wasn't there. But of course he was the reason.

Of course it was him, Jack who had first quenched Wills thirst for adventure, but it never lasted long. Jack was the one who showed Will all of it. Maybe didn't show him, just gave him the key to open up a door he'd left closed for such a long time. And Jack was always first now to Will, never her. Oh no, never her.

But in the beginning of course, love blocked her view from the obvious. Why would anyone want to believe that their husband wanted- was- and is a pirate? Why would anyone want to believe that their husband…didn't love them? And chose another to love? Chose to love a pirate instead of them?

But when she finally did come to accept it…or at least moved to the idea that that was happening, she asked questions. 'Why weren't you there?' 'Where were you?', were becoming common question in the Turner household. But Will replied with the same 'Something unexpected came up.'

Finally she asked about him, about Jack. She asked if this had anything to do with Jack. But this time Will had no answer. He just looked at her, looking lost and sad and afraid. And that was enough of an answer for her.

But now she doesn't ask questions anymore. She doesn't need, or even really want, to know where Will's been, because there's no need. She knows. She doesn't want to, but she does. She's just become the same girl she was before. Always looking at Will, hoping that he'll love her. But now she knows it is too late. Her ship had sailed long ago. She'll always be the same girl, wishing for something that just won't be.

the end. or the finish. or la fin.
