"Morning, Harry."

"Morning, Ron."

"Hey, are you… wait a minute. You didn't sleep in my room last night. Where were you? Did you… don't tell me… did Ginny… please tell me you didn't… you can't have… Harry, you slept on the couch, right? Because if not, your girlfriend's older brother is seriously going to kick your arse, best friend or not."

"What are you talking about, Ron?"

"I'm talking about you and my little sister!"

"What about us?"

"I'm talking about you… and Ginny… and I'm wondering why you didn't sleep in my room in the extra bed last night."

"What's that got to do with anything?"

"I'm just saying that you were supposed to sleep in my room, and not with… somebody else."

"And whom would I be sleeping with?"

"I… you… just… I don't know. But you didn't… sort of… I don't know. Did you?"

"If you don't know, how could I?"

"No, I do know! It's just… I'm sort of… uncomfortable… I don't know. I mean, I do, but I don't want to talk about it."

"Alright then. Want to have breakfast?"

"Mum's not up yet, and she's the one that makes the best eggs."

"Right. Are Hermione and Ginny up?"

"Oh, so you don't know whether or not Ginny's awake? So you haven't seen her since last night… I mean, since you went to sleep… and you just… haven't seen her the entire night? I mean… yeah? You're assuming she's asleep because she went to sleep last night and that was all she did, right? I mean… I just sort of… am wondering… if you've seen her."

"Ron, you're acting really odd. Is everything OK?"

"Everything's fine! I'm just a little protective of Ginny, that's all. I mean, she is my little sister… and you're dating her and all… forget it. Let's make toast."

"Sure. Actually, hold on just a second, I want to go upstairs and get dressed."

"No problem."

(…)

"Hey, Ginny?"

"Why, hello, Harry."

"Listen, Ron's flipping out because he knows I didn't sleep in his room last night."

"So? You didn't. I would know, wouldn't I?"

"True, but he's your big brother and I'm your boyfriend and if he finds out he's going to kill me."

"So you're scared of him?"

"Ron's strong when he's furious."

"Alright, alright. I'll just play dumb if he asks."

"Well that's what I did, and it seemed to work."

"Was it hard?"

"What?"

"Playing dumb."

"Shut up."

"Will not. Come on, lover, let's go have breakfast."
