Light entered Task Force Headquarters, eager to clear up the confusion he felt over the strange rumor he'd heard. He could swear he had heard Matsuda and Aizowa talking about the bathrooms at TFHQ. Something about missing toilet seats. Matsu said he bet it was L's catburgler friend. Surely they had just been joking around. It wasMatsuda, after all. Still…
There was L, playing chess with himself as usual. Not one to beat about the bush, Light said, "So, I heard someone stole all the toilet seats from Task Force Headquarters."
L rearranged a few chess pieces on the board. "That is actually correct," he said.
Amazed, Light approached the low table. "So… what do you have to say for yourself, L?" He couldn't resist making a move for the side across from L.
L studied the board in lew of Light's interference. At length, he reached out to make his next move. "Only," he said slowly, "that we have nothing to go on."
Light looked at L in amazment. "Is that a joke?" he demanded.
"I rather dislike jokes," L replied.
