{a/n- A fun little poem to write, it kinda hints at the belief that Artemis might have been from the cities beyond the sea, Lyonesse, Atlantis, Ys, read the Mists of Avalon or some legends to find out what I'm talking about}
I am Artemis
Known to you as the Huntress
Yet know this:
I am a woman cursed
You say I have it all
You think I'm beautiful
To me I'm just myself
Too skinny, too gawky, too tall
I look upon your faces
The hunters and the lovers
I ride at night through secret places
Casting silver torch for night time revels
Helping you back after Love's tender spells
I walk alone through the ages
Different people, different cages
Still the Huntress, still the Moon
Still the silver maiden, sister of the Sun
But I'll never find my love, I'll never find the One
Lyonesse is behind me now
The city beyond the sea
I couldn't stop it then
Zeus took it from me
Priestess I might be
But no Wise Woman of Destiny
For I am just a maiden
Wishing for love to come to me
Lift my silver bow, call to me my family
Swing the tides upon the leash
Come to me, go from me
Swallow boats upon the sea
I am charged with destiny
Beyond Mortality
Atlantis may be buried yonder
But I shall be there before much longer
Immortality is my curse to bear upon thee
Before much longer the waves will crush upon sand and slime
Swing the tides, count the time
Until Ys has her revenge upon me
I am just a woman
Artemis of the Moon
Unlucky am I
But unluckier is my doom
For I shall not go quietly
I am a woman
Cherishing it not at all
This is my lament
That I should breathe at all
{a/n- Weird and rambling, but fun. Read and review if you like it. *hopes you'll read it and review it*}
