-Now Until Forever-
The S-DAT player clicked as Shinji's tape of favorite songs ended. Shortly after Shinji awoke to the sound of his alarm clock and just in time for another day at school. He heard Asuka's voice from the other room ranting for some breakfast. Since it was his turn to cook, he thought that he had better get to it. During the course of scrambling eggs for the to lovely young ladies, Shinji could not help but to stare at the two of them. The both of them sitting there in there nightclothes just screamed "look at me" to him. On more than one occasion, Asuka caught him looking. She bent over and made Shinji drop the spatula and turn red. Misato scolded him and made him clean it up. The two pilots got dressed and headed to school.
The two roommates met up with Rei just a few minutes later. Rei didn't say much but Asuka didn't shut up and Shinji just sat back and listened. Before class even started Shinji caught himself staring out of the window and day dreaming. He saw himself laying next to Asuka gently stroking her hair and staring into her eyes. He was swiftly brought back to reality by a hard knock on the head by the redheaded enchantress herself. He just rubbed his head and began his work.
When the bell rang to get out of school it was time to go to work. The three friend did there usual routine and the meet up in the park. Rei said that she had to go and Shinji was trying his best to work up the courage to ask Asuka out to a movie. When he finally did she slapped him and then playfully agreed. The movie went okay but Asuka seemed to ignore him the majority of the time. When the move was over he asked Asuka if she was hungry. She laughed and said, "Yeah, and its your turn to cook, baka."
The two of them hurried home and Shinji cooked supper. While Shinji cleaned the kitchen Asuka and Misato watched TV. Misato complained about her long day and announced that she was going to bed. They all said their good nights and she went to bed. When Shinji had finished cleaning the kitchen, he went in and sat down next to Asuka. Once again he caught himself staring at the young beauty in her night clothes. They sat there for nearly an hour before either of them said anything.
Shinji looked at Asuka and said, "Can I ask you a question?"
She replied, "You just did, baka."
He turned red and replied, "Why are you always yelling and tormenting me?"
She said, "Because you're a stupid little boy."
He laughed and said, "You wanna know what I think?"
She said, "What?" He said, "I think that it is just a defense mechanism for you to hide how you really feel about me."
She chuckled and said, "And just how is that?"
He replied, "The same way I feel about you. That you love me."
Asuka grunted and reached way back to give him the slap of his life. Shinji put his hand up and grabbed her arm before her hand could come in contact with his face.
Asuka gasped and said, "I have waited so long for you to finally call me on that. I was beginning to think that you where never going to figure it out." The two of them smiled and leaned together and embraced each other.
Shinji awoke on that fateful Saturday morning, laying next to a redheaded angel. He looked into her eyes as he stroked her hair, woke her with a gentle kiss and told her, "You are mine, from now until forever."
Asuka nodded her head in concurrence and put her head on Shinji's chest. They lay there, listening the rhythmic beating of their hearts and watched the sun rise. Asuka looked into the eyes of her new life partner and repeated, "From now until forever."
