I woke up in the morning because I heard horns coming from outside the wall. I got up and all the way to the gate, just in time to see the king coming in, riding on his horse through the large gateway . I told my friend, Ricky, that when the next soldiers arrived, to come to the gate. "Hey Sammy. How are you doing?"
"Great, I can't wait to see the king. Want to race to the king?" I said.
"You bet I do. Ready... Set...Go!" Ricky yelled.
Ricky and I took off running toward the king. At the last second I held Ricky back and stepped forward.
"No fair. You can't hold me back." Ricky said.
"Too bad. Let's go meet the king." I said.
"Hello little ones. What are your names?" The king asked.
"I'm Sammy and this is my friend Ricky. We just wanted to say hello. By the way, why are so many soldiers coming here with lots of weapons?" I asked.
"They are coming because war is upon us. Get your families and go to the back part of the city. You will be safe from the orcs for now." The king said.
"Our spies have returned!" A soldier yelled to the king.
I must go little ones. I have a city to protect. Hurry and get your families and get to the back part of the city before other do." The king said before turning around to talk to the spies.
" Let's go." Ricky said to me before running to his house.
We ran all the way to Ricky's house to get his family. He told his parents what the king said. They got their stuff and we ran to my house to get my sister. We told her and she got her stuff and we went to the back of the city. We were the first ones to get there. We choose a that looked good, and set up. We got fully set up when more people started coming. Ricky told me that he heard people saying that tens of thousands were coming. When everyone got settled, I got hungry. My sister gave me bread to eat. When I was halfway through my bread, I saw soldiers coming to get more men to fight. They came to us and took me and Ricky. "No! You can't do this!" my sister screamed at the soldier.
