A/N: In honor of Jon's CD being released today I thought some much needed Beckespito was in order. It's a bit angst-y but what else do you expect from me when Esposito is concerned? I'll write a happy one for him one of these days until then…

Rubbing Off:

It was his signal.

The one where Kate reached up to her bare neck line with those slender fingers of hers to let him know that she needed his particular touch.

Out of habit, Esposito pushed himself out of his chair only to waltz his way over to Beckett but flopped himself down quickly on the edge of Ryan's desk. Castle interjected him by sneaking up behind Kate.

The Writer played it off as if he didn't see Javier. He ignored him, focusing his attention on the subject at hand. Kate was tense, he didn't have to put his hands on her shoulders to tell as such. It was the way she held herself. She hid it well, but he knew. Apparently, he wasn't the only one. He was gentle as he wrapped his hands around Kate's sore muscles as if to tell Esposito: Mine.

"Are you all right?" Castle asked his partner in crime.

"Fine," she lied.

She'd caught herself half way when she spotted Esposito making his way over to her.

"No your not." Castle argued.

Kate's argument remained invalid considering she melted at Castle's touch, allowing herself to sink back. The chair blocked her from him but it didn't matter, she closed her hazel eyes to imagine the chair was just an illusion.

Rick massaged circles in those particular spots that made Kate ache. He glance was downcast but every now and then he couldn't help but look up at Javier.

"Dude!" Kevin fussed at his partner. "Yer messin' up my system!"

Ryan went to reach for the now scattered papers, much to his dismay Javi didn't seem to be phased by it. Instead, he just rolled his eyes. "No one gits yer system bro, sorry."

"No one else has to git it," Ryan reminded him. "As long as I know where shit is, than that is all that matters!"

Their commotion caused Beckett to come out of her relaxing phase. "What's going on over there?"

"Oh ya'know," Javier played. He reached up to his own neck. "I'm waitin' in line fer my turn."

Ryan laughed. "Yeah Castle, my lower back is killin' me!"

It made The Writer smirked. He brought his hands up only to wiggle his fingers to indicate they were magic.

"Big fingers, big hands," Ryan noticed.

Esposito rolled his brown eyes. He brought his hand up only to whack it against the back of his partner's head. Did he have to rub that in? Really?

"What?" Ryan questioned innocently.

Javi was just as thankful as Castle was when they had a case to solve.

It was at the yellow tape that Kate apologized to Esposito. "Listen Javi," she began slowly. Awkward was putting it lightly. "About what happened back at the precinct-"

He smiled at her. "What are ya talkin' 'bout?"

There was a sigh of a relief. This was the agreement that they'd come to when they'd call it quits: it never happened.

"Kate!" Castle waved the detective back to him where a pile of blood was at his feet while Javi took his place next to Ryan.
