This Fairy Tale Poem actually IS my idea

Once upon a time in a land not too far away

The princess bore a daughter on a beautiful spring day

They named her Pearl for she was their joy

The whole kingdom rejoiced and didn't care that she wasn't a boy

Sadly the Princess who bore the baby died

The prince was heartbroken inside

But he had to be strong for his baby girl

The only bright spot in his life, his little Pearl

His upbringing taught him to have a stiff upper lip

But whenever he was with Pearl that would slip

He would feed her, change her rock her too

At night he would tell her, "Baby I love you"

The years passed quickly by and Pearl was a child

She was filled with laughter and beautiful smiles

At four when they were out one day around two

She hugged her dad and said "I love you"

He hugged her back with tender care

The people jeered and they did stare

"What are you doing," one man asked who held a mike

The prince replied, "What does it look like"

"Showing affection in public what a thing to do," tasked a lady

"Lady," the prince said, "this is my baby"

"And she should learn not to be like this," a woman crooned

"HEAVEN FORBID IT," the prince sarcastically groaned

"My child," he continued without a scare

"Will grow up knowing love everywhere

"I don't have to hide it. I'm not ashamed

"I love my daughter everywhere everyday"
