Disclaimer: Prince of Tennis isn't mine it belongs to Konomi Takeshi
The sound of the wind was all that was heard as the leaves and dust danced through the courts. It was a lazy Friday afternoon and classes at Seishun Gakuen had just ended. We see a lone couple sitting underneath a tree close to the tennis courts their voices soft as they talked.
"I don't understand." A boy with cat like amber eyes whispered.
"I know you don't. Can we please not talk about this anymore?" A girl with chestnut brown hair silently responded."
"Why? I see no reason for us not to talk about this. It's only a matter of time before one of us officially brings it up"
"I don't want to talk about it anymore!"
He sighed loudly then proceeded to say, "Maybe. . . Maybe we were never meant to be."
She stayed quiet as tears rolled down her eyes.
"What is happening, I can't understand anymore." He silently said with his sad, downcast eyes.
She mustered all her courage and responded with, "Why are we like this? What's wrong? I love you and you love me but why isn't this working?" she paused for breath then continued, "You do love me right?" she glanced towards him.
"Of course I do" he responded, "I love you very much, you mean everything to me, but I can't explain why this isn't working anymore".
"Maybe you're right, maybe we were never meant to be." She breathed.
"So what are you saying?" he quickly responded.
"I'm saying I think we need space; let's give it time, who knows we might be meant for each other, we just have to wait this whole thing out" she said as tears flowed from her eyes once again.
"Hn. I think that maybe for the best. But I want you to know, I love you." He sighed.
"I know that, I love you more." She tried to wipe away the tears but they kept flowing much to her dismay.
"Goodbye"
"Goodbye"
"Wow Ryoma-kun! That was pretty good!" Sakuno broke the eerie silence as she happily exclaimed.
"Hn" Ryoma tugged the bill of his cap lower onto his head. "That had to be the hardest thing I ever had to do."
"I know, I can't believe I managed to say that to you. I'd never dreamed of saying anything like that, those were such horrible lies!"
"Not all of it though, the last part was true."
Sakuno's eyes began to water "What do you mean? Which part are you talking about?"
"The part when I told you I loved you"
"Oh. That part. Mou Ryoma-kun you scared me" she pouted as he smirked.
"Thanks for helping me practice Ryoma-kun."
"Betsuni. Afterall, no kissing for a month, makes me very very cranky" He said as he quickly stole a kiss from her.
"Ryoma-kun we're in school!"
"Who cares? I love you too much."
"Mou, I love you too Ryoma-kun"
"C'mon let's go home" he stood up and proceeded to sling his tennis bag on his shoulder.
"Hai" she responded as she followed suit.
