(A/N: I was originally going to do a separate Next to Normal HenNat and Wicked Bessa Valentine's Day story, but then I realized that Henry and Boq both seemed like they would be incredibly awkward yet incredibly sweet when it came to giving Valentine's Day gifts [they also both don't have a last name], so I decided to make it a crossover. So…it's HenNat and Bessa in the same drabble. How much more epic can you get? Even though this is AU, Boq is still Munchkin-sized, Nessa's still in a wheelchair, and Henry and Natalie are still…Henry and Natalie. Enjoy!)

Valentine's Day

"So what are you and Natalie doing for Valentine's Day?" Boq asked Henry as they ate their lunch.

Henry shrugged. "I dunno. Hang out at one of our houses, talk, stuff like that. And I wrote her a song. Well…I was going to until I realized nothing rhymes with 'Natalie.'"

Boq laughed. "Yeah, Nessa and I are probably going to end up at my house and we'll watch a movie or something."

They looked at each other, and the two friends could see the other's head considering the Valentine's Day advertising they'd seen—couples at fancy restaurants with sparkly jewelry. They weren't doing anything like that.

"Are you thinking what I'm thinking?" Henry asked.

"If it's that we're doing Valentine's Day wrong, then yes."

"Oh, man, we're gonna get dumped." Henry placed his head in his hands.

"Hey, guys," Nessa said as she and Natalie approached the table.

"Hi," Henry said, lifting up his head. "Um…Natalie, is there anything special you want to do for Valentine's Day?"

Natalie snorted. "Valentine's Day? That is so cliché. I'm pretty sure it was invented by the card and jewelry companies. And have you seen how stressed people get about their Valentine's Day date being perfect? It's stupid and unnecessary."

Henry sighed in relief. "So you don't mind just going to my house and hanging out?"

"Not at all."

Boq looked at Nessa. "Um, Nessa…"

"Don't worry, Boq," Nessa assured him, smiling. "I agree with Natalie."

Boq sighed in relief, too, and looked at Henry, giving him a grin. They had avoided getting dumped.

For now.
