Vince was healing from his hip surgery after an attack from Brock Lesnar and, things were finally back to life as usual in the office. Still walking on crutches he didn't let it slow him down. Brock had become a loose cannon after his own daughter, Stephanie, had set the monster loose on the company. He let Brock stay for the simple fact he made for great ratings. "I just don't understand it, Shane. Stephanie could have had everything she wanted if she would have just waited till my retirement. But, no she has to stab her own family in the back."
"Dad, at least Paul (Triple H) stayed to take up the slack. Steph is out on the world media tour and away from everyone. I think it was the best choice to get her off the show and away from everything for a while. But, Hunter (Paul aka Triple H) just isn't himself. Since their divorce he is fine at work but, at home, he is a mess. He feels like this whole thing is his fault." Shane shook his head.
"I should have talked to you and Steph about turning over the company to Paul after I retire. But, that's a long time off. I don't know why Steph would think she would be the one to take over anyway. She messed up when I gave her the chance to run creative and my whole creative team almost ended up leaving. She does good with the marketing team but, that's really all she has ever done well here. It's not been the same last few years with the writers. We are losing ratings and we need someone to bring back some fire." Vince scratched his head.
"Dad, I have a suggestion. Hunter needs help. His arm is hurt, he's been in a rut, and frankly needs a second hand with the new talent. I have this new girl I'm interviewing today. I was going to hire her with my team, but I think Hunter needs someone more than I do right now. With the doctor visits, running NXT, and being on RAW, he has a lot of pressure right now." Shane looked concerned for his former brother-in-law.
"And you think Paul is going to go for a woman working that close to him on his team? He's not exactly women-friendly lately unless they are ones he is training." Vince chuckled and his smile quickly faded. "I can't believe Steph set him up with Brock hurting him. Having us both attacked because she didn't get her way. I knew she wanted to be in my spot eventually. Hell, I think that's why she stayed with him this long. To get that CEO spot for herself. She thought she could control him. He's a good man. He didn't deserve what she did. I feel responsible. I thought I raised you kids better than that."
"Dad, you were great. You gave us the world at our fingertips. She chose to cheat on him all those years. She chose to have him and you attacked. Don't blame yourself. I love Steph as much as you do Dad but, she's just always been this way." Shane frowned. Knowing his sister was always vindictive. He always believed she got with Hunter to be famous.
"Maybe your right, son."
"Dad this new girl. She could do anything we ask. I did a pre-skype interview. She's pure eye candy but, also she seems sincere and very business savvy. Saw some video too. She's got some skill in the ring. She works with indies, trained at OVW a while. We could use her on RAW. Right now though, she is interested in working with talent and development. Hunter could show her the ropes behind the scenes. In the meantime, she can be starting out as his personal assistant. Help him till his arm heals and with personal stuff. Especially when the girls are there. Steph isn't giving him much time with them though. Keeps them in Europe at her new house and a nanny most the time." Shane tried giving his dad a little idea of her new life, a little insight at a time. Since she was behind the attacks, they had not talked in months.
"Anyway Dad, this girl is a fitness trainer too and went to school for PR. She applied to do public relations and talent development. She has this insane resume. Was a talent manager, fitness competitor, model, she's done it all. I have her folder right here. This is her headshot and model card." Shane hands Vince a photo of a brunette beauty. "She had a good following in the indies. A little all over the place with her skills but, she seems driven and ready to pick up wherever we need her for. She really wants to work here and was willing to do just about anything. Except kissing your bare ass." Shane joked.
"Funny jokester! She's pretty. Looks about Steph's age. Your right this resume is impressive. She's a go-getter." Vince mulled over what Shane was saying.
"She was referred to me from the Bella Twins. They met this girl at GenCon. John Leonidas says she has helped out a lot at the performance center when she's in town for fitness and modeling gigs. Nikki brought her down for a few weeks to meet some people. Even though she doesn't work for us she picked up and helped with some fitness advice for the new recruits. Bri and Nikki invite her into spare with them from time to time. So she started helping with fitness training in exchange for using the ring to keep up her skills. John says she's loved by everyone down there. Hunter hasn't met her yet. I talked to William Regal and he says she has been a big help around there. Even though she's not on the payroll. She lives in Ohio but, commutes to Florida a lot."
"Wow. That's unlikely. Most people want that paycheck and still, half ass does their job." Vince was impressed. "Let me interview this girl. I think you may be onto something. Thing is, I am going to have to get Linda in on this one. Have her convince Hunter he needs this help. We all know he does but, he is stubborn. Being it's a woman he may buck on this idea. We both know he has this no women thing going on right now."
