This poem is dedicated to Lady of Nimrodel who inspired this poem with her
own poem "Unsung Heroes",(Read it, it's excellent!) about how horses were
an incredibly important part of people's lives-and still are in fact- yet
never seem to get much acknowledgement. So here's some more poetry for you,
and all you other horse lovers out there! :)

Each night I wish upon the star,
that lies within constellations for man too far.
Within the galaxies my memories lie,
to see you once more there is no mountain too high.

I wander this world, the one I helped free,
but I would have never succeeded without you here with me.
When I felt that all my strength had gone,
one look from you was enough to carry on.

Living a life of battle, at times I grew weak,
but you remained steady, no objection could you speak.
Gloriously we would ride to war,
a team unmatched in myth or lore.

You had a spirit no man could bend,
at times like these, I just miss my friend.
The unsung hero of my triumphs and victories,
has fallen in battle, this noble beast of the centuries.

The ultimate price you have paid,
so often unappreciated by men with a blade.
But this I will remember, never will I forget,
your faithfullness and loyalty to a cause you could not interpret.

Now I look to the star, shimmering in the cold night sky,
one among inumerable, a heaven placed for you and I.
But I know now that this is not the end.
Death now calls me, you and I will meet again.
