DISCLAIMER: Joss owns the characters. I own their quirky dialogue in this fic. And a very large, very pounding headache. Ugh. Creed owns the song. I love Creed.
Who would've thought that despite Giles' efforts to keep good 'ole Ripper hidden, he comes out whenever something really good is on MTV. As the Creed video went on, Giles sang along, dancing and playing air guitar.
"Can you take me higher..."
It was around six-thirty in the afternoon and he was getting ready to have dinner and then enjoy the journal of an imprisoned and insane Watcher before going to sleep. He liked having his night free of Hellmouthy work and was ready to turn off his MTV when someone knocked.
Quickly, Rupert returned. He flipped to CNN and opened a book. He remembered that he was wearing sunglasses and tossed them off just in time because Anya let herself in.
"Your door is *still* unlocked," she shook her head. "Don't you learn anything living on a Hellmouth?"
"Xander's not here."
"No, I know. I left him at my place to shower." Giles winced and went into the kitchen to pour himself a drink. "I came to see you, actually."
"If you're asking me when you're going to get your powers back, never."
"No, it's--"
"And if you want me to help you try and find your power source, think again."
"Actually--"
"And no, I *don't* keep condoms around all the time, only when Olivia is coming around."
Anya grinned at the Watcher. "Jumped the gun a little bit there, didn't ya?" she held up the box of Trojan Shared Sensation and grinned at him. He grabbed it from her and stuffed it in his fridge, of all places. Anya made a face. "Remind me never to eat here."
"May I ask what you're doing here so you can go away?" he didn't much care if he was being rude.
"I came to talk about D'Hoffryn."
"What about him?"
"You know how he summoned Willow to join him? Gave her a talisman and everything?"
"I've heard the story."
"Well, I just wanted to let you know that if he summons me again, I'm not gonna join him. I wanna stay here, with Xander. And all of you."
"How wonderful," he said sarcastically.
"Just wanted to make sure you were aware that I wasn't gonna turn to the dark side or anything."
"I gotcha," he picked up his mug of tea and sipped it.
"Anything else?" she asked.
"Not a thing. Will you be leaving now?"
"I guess so." She turned to go and then turned back around. "Will Willow be messing with anymore spells in the future?"
"Of that nature? I should say not."
"Dammit. I wanted her to make Spike and I want to get married." she stormed out of the house.
When she was gone, Giles threw his arms up into the air. "Why does *everyone* keep saying that?!?!?"
