When I first started here at Hogwarts, nobody noticed me. Some still don't, not really. I was the strange girl who hung vegetables from her ears. Who walked barefoot in the forest. Whose father writes about animals and conspiracies that are nonexistent. Whose crazy mother killed herself while experimenting on god knows what. They didn't want to know me. So I just kept to myself.
I've always been the kind of girl
That hid my face
So afraid to tell the world
What I've got to say
But I have this dream
Right inside of me
I'm gonna let it show, it's time
To let you know
Harry was one of the first people to be nice to me. I believed in him and he got me to believe in myself. When I learned of his plans (well Hermione's) to start a resistance against Umbridge, I was more than willing to blindly follow him. He had given me so much to believe in. I had a purpose. I had something that needed me.
This is real, this is me
I'm exactly where I'm suppose to be, now
Gonna let the light, shine on me
Now I've found, who I am
There's no way to hold it in
No more hiding who I want to be
This is me
When the whole incident with the Department of Mysteries happened, some people changed their opinions of me. I was no longer Loony Lovegood. I was Luna. Someone brave. Someone people liked. I was Harry Potter's friend. I liked being Luna so much better.
Do you know what it's like
To feel so in the dark
To dream about a life
Where you're the shining star
Even though it seems
Like it's too far away
I have to believe in myself
It's the only way
Harry and me become good friends. He even asked me to a party. I'd never been asked to a party before. I won't admit it, but he did look quiet silly with that yellow eyebrow. It felt wonderful to get dressed up and have everyone looking at me. I felt like a princess in a fairy tale and that feeling stayed with me for always.
This is real, this is me
I'm exactly where I'm suppose to be, now
Gonna let the light, shine on me
Now I've found, who I am
There's no way to hold it in
No more hiding who I want to be
This is me
