Disclaimer: Don't own Avengers…

Summary: A poem about the conflict Loki has with letting Thor know how he truly feels about him. Angst. Slash.

AN: Yo! I've been buzzing around the Avenger's fandom for a little while now and just thought I should post something us so I can give back to the author's whose stories I've been reading.

An Honest Smile

Sometimes he smiles, though often times he doesn't mean it

However, sometimes he does mean it

But he won't tell

And sometimes, just sometimes he loves his elder brother

A little more than he wishes he did

Because Thor is not his brother

He won't tell though

Because he doesn't want to

And he shouldn't have to

It's just in his nature

To avoid unnecessary commitments that can hurt him

Because no matter how many times he's been knocked on his godly backside

No matter how many flabby humanoid faces sneer at him from time to time

It doesn't really hurt, because he honestly doesn't care for what they think

He is a demi-God after all and he would not sink so low

Because he has standards

But Thor,

Thor hurts him in a way that is not unpleasant or unwanted

And Loki cannot find it in himself to cast aside the longing that he feels

Sometimes he loves his elder brother

More than he probably should

Sometimes he revels in the feeling

Knowing that he is Thor's favorite too

But most days he is frightened by it

Because he is the God of Mischief and Lies

And such things are not so common for him

He who would smile sweetly

And stab another in the back with his lips still curved so beautifully

He who would charm the Devil himself cannot always smile for his brother

Because sometimes he means it

He really, really means it

And that is a frightening thought, because sometimes-

He likes it

And the God of Lies should not like something so honest

AN: Hope you enjoyed it! Loki is so tsundere, but I think Thor with his big puppy eyes and charmingly silly grin can get under that frosty exterior. (Worst pun ever, but I regret nothing. XD)
