Clara's Perspective - By Kevin
My eyes stay wide open from the pouring rain thats happening outside. Not only is it loud, but it also enhances the eerie atmosphere of the rooftop that Kevin and I are camping on for the night. Most survivors use this time to sing songs, make fires and get drunk. But instead, we shut our eyes, not knowing that the person next to you is crying about the things that he lost. Parents, siblings, friends...they all affect your chances of survival here, for one wrong move could mean certain death. More than enough people have lost loved ones, but how many children have? With no hand to feed the crying child, no mouth to read bedtime stories...its because of luck that we're still alive. Since I spent my time in a closet for the month, I would have been dead if it wasn't for the person sleeping next to me. Kevin, was my handsome savior, as he saved me from a horde of zombies. I look back to the time I first met him. The time when he kept me alive, supplying us with food, water and meat if you're lucky. He still does only now, food is more scarce, so survivors usually die of starvation before they even get to the city. Its comforting, since Kevin and I are going there tomorrow, with little water and definitely little food. But somehow he never seems to be eating his half of the ration...
"Clara?," a voice sleepily says.
I turn my head to see a pleasant sight : Kevin.
"Good morning sleepyhead," I giggle.
"Haha, very funny," he laughs back. "You couldn't catch any sleep?"
"Yeah,"I respond. "Rain keeps me up."
We start to talk about the city. Where it is, how we're going to get there. The trip really doesn't seem so bad with Kevin along. He talks about really interesting stuff, but every so often, piece by piece, he reveals parts of his past life. Parents getting shot, sister getting tortured...I listened to every word that came out of his mouth. "Stay alive...for me," was his sisters last words before she passed away. Using a tissue, I wipe the tears of his face, and he responds with a smile. Cute.
