The my version on why the Kyuubi attacked.

Disclaimer: I DO NOT OWN NARUTO! If I did the show would be a bunch of stick figures throwing things at each other for who knows what...

Six: Yah! If I wasn't bored I wouldn't have written this or signed up.

Kyuubi: Your a disgrace, don't write about me!!

Six: Shut it () It's my idea...

When the Five Great Nations were just starting out, Kohona made a pact with the fox Bijuu's that in return for protection and assistance, they would offer new jutsu's and a place for the Bijuu's to congregate. The Bijuu's agreed to this and assisted Kohona in its growth and development. Kohona became a great city and conquered the land around it until; at last, it became one the Great Nations.

The Bijuu's continued to assist Kohona helping them restore balance and order to their city when fights broke out. Kohona was enjoying this golden age to the fullest extent. They celebrated the day in which the pact was made and when Kohona had become a great nation but behind that… there were people planning a different idea. The idea to have they're very own Bijuu under control.

Year's later (fifteen years ago, when the Kyuubi attacked) the Kyuubi stood at a river working on his fire jutsu's, training in other words. He was attacked by three people who, or course did not hurt him but caused him to become angry. He attacked back. Two of them dodged his enraged attacks while another barely escaped. These three people were Iruka, the Third Hokage, and the Fourth. (Guess which one was attacked.) This broke the pact that had lasted for thousands of years and had broke the one rule that all Bijuu's had; Never betray a Bijuu's trust.

Now the Kyuubi had all the reason to destroy Kohona once and for all, so he attacked. In his rage he lost all sense of thought. The only thing on his mind was death, blood and anger. The two Hokage were realizing the full impact of their actions struggled to figure out a way to stop them. With very little time left, the Fourth decided to use the only Jutsu he knew that could seal the Kyuubi. He summoned Gamabunta and got as close to the Kyuubi as possible before he sealed the Kyuubi away into a certain yellow-haired boy. The Fourth died.

The pact broken, the Bijuu's turned around and walked away from Kohona, although they stayed in the Fire Country. The foxes turned against those from Kohona and either killed them or avoided them. Kohona's once rich in food and money; started losing the strength that had come from the Bijuu's who had assisted them for so long. The Third realized the full extent of the mistake he had made. He sent out search parties to find a fox Bijuu but the clever foxes lead them everywhere then left them with nothing. The Third gave up his search as he struggled to keep Kohona from falling into further ruin. The villagers started blaming the Kyuubi for the attack and the bad luck they were having, and so their anger slowly filtered over to the Jinchuuriki who had the Kyuubi sealed within him. Little did that boy know that the Third, who he admired, in his own way, had everything to do with his miserable life.
