Drabble from the Gender Bent verse I'm playing around with. I imagine Male!Sam would have a lot a piercings and a couple tattoos, eventually.
Disclaimer: I don't own anything recognizable, just the writing.
Sam's First Tattoo
Sam Manson had never really gone out for that whole, true love soul mate crap. That being said he was getting Danny's named tattooed across his right hip. Well not really her name, more her symbol; the one he had designed in the world where they never met.
Because Sam didn't believe in soul mates 'always gonna' be together' his choosing to tattoo a girls name went against a lot of his opinions about sensible behavior in someone his age. It was doubly weird because he and Danny had never dated, hell, they had never kissed (and fake out make out's did not count). At the rate Sam was going he would be in his twenties before he worked up the nerve to finally ask her out. As it was every time he though he had psyched himself up to it Danny would show an unusual amount of interest in Paul, or a ghost would turn up and spoil the moment, or they would get into a stupid argument. Something always came up to ruin everything.
So it wasn't really that Sam believed that he and Danny were destined for each other (as much as he might hope that they were), getting the tattoo was more of an acknowledgment. Danny had impacted so much of his life. She had been his first friend. She had been the one to introduce him to Tuck, and as much as Sam like to think about himself as an active and caring person if it hadn't been for Danny's powers and everything they entailed he wouldn't have done so many things that had made his life what it was.
Danny, whether she meant to or not had changed his life. He didn't know if they would ever get where he wanted to go but he hoped that she would continue to be a fixture in his life, because frankly he didn't want to think about how dull it would be without her.
"That's you done." The artist gave the design a final wipe down and applied a bandage while reciting proper aftercare procedure.
"Thanks," Sam pulled his pants to just below his hip and looked at it in the mirror. It was backwards but it looked good. The skin was red and tender looking but Danny Phantom's symbol was clear and dark. All smooth lines and stark contrast. He smiled at it. He didn't know if he would ever share its existence with anyone, but it was there, marking him.
