Some random action xD (Warhammer 40000, Cities of Death style)

The sergeant motioned for the troopers to advance, and they obeyed cautiously. Three of the privates moved out of a shell crater to the cover of a destroyed first-floor balcony. Several others had just begun moving forward when a crack split the air, the sound rebounded off the surrounding buildings, making it's source impossible to define. The second group of guardsmen immediately ducked for cover, the first group, confident of their cover, simply hunkered down. A private in the initial group shrieked and arched his back, his chest seemingly exploded, to the horror of his comrades. His lifeless corpse dropped to the floor, spraying blood. The sergeant yelled at his men, telling them to take cover, the order didn't help, and his men floundered, discipline fighting primal instinct.

The Chaos sniper used the confusion to full effect, firing two more Bolter shots into the squad's sergeant. The tough veteran gave a despairing look at the holes in his chest, and fell to the rapidly soaking ground.

Stationed in a bombed first-floor apartment overlooking a T junction in the city road, the deranged servant of Chaos had excellent sight lines on all three approach roads. His heavy bolter rifle had seven notches scratched onto it's casing. The sniper already had two more to add, but celebrating his victories could come later, right now there was killing to do.

Private first class Sentander was huddling behind a battered door frame with his radio handset at his ear and a map in his hand. Corporal Gomez was stood next to the quivering radio operator, "Hurry up mate, tell 'em where we are and ask if there are any basilisks available." Suddenly the corporal stiffened, "Shit, he's in that building over the ju-" The round hit Gomez in the lower abdomen. What remained of the late corporal's body hit the other side of the room, spraying Sentander with bodily parts as it passed.

The terrified radio operator stammered out coordinates as if his life depended on it. Only to be told to wait as other units needed the support. Oblivious to the world around him, Sentander didn't hear the sounds of his squad being picked off in the buildings around him. As the firing officer finally replied that support was available, Sentander looked round the door frame to check the location Gomez had mentioned.

The guardsman made a pathetic noise in the base of his throat as he stared into the matte black helmet of the sniper, whose body and armour covered in a grey/dark blue poncho, he was only visible because of his proximity and the fact that his hood was down, exposing his distinct helmet shape. Had it been up, Sentander wouldn't have seen him until too late, the poncho blended in so well with the stony environment. Impressively, The panicked soldier managed to reach for his knife before the Chaos soldier got a grip on his neck. Sentander stammered requests for mercy, but the soldiers of Chaos neither asked for or received mercy.

To the artillery officer, a young second lieutenant, the sound of Sentander's neck breaking must have been sickening. The sniper moved off, leaving the dead bodies where they had fallen. Now was the time to celebrate his vile gods for giving him this victory.

The massacred squad of the Imperial Guard lay in pools of their own blood, the liquid reddening the ground around them and drying into a hard crust on the land. Their bodies would not be discovered by their comrades, and the dead soldiers' souls could hope for nothing more than to watch their bodies rot in the sunlight, undisturbed, in peace.
