Title: Obvious, Really

Rating: G

Disclaimer: Not a word of it is true! They're not even my characters! This isn't even my computer!

Summary: Answer to a drabble-challenge set...ages ago, actually. "Write a character from a fanfic, writing fanfic of their own." So I chose Glorfindel and his naughty Elfy mind.

Word count: 100 in the drabble itself.

Glorfindel laid down his quill and smirked.

The ballads always sang of the great, immortal love between Beren and Lúthien... but Glorfindel had always thought it rather remarkable that it was, not Lúthien, but Finrod Felagund who had dared to accompany Beren on the quest for the Silmaril.

And so Glorfindel's devious mind had speculated and postulated; and then, tonight, he had abandoned his bed, unable to contain it any longer. He had audaciously rewritten the entire Tale of Tinúviel, exploiting all possible subtext.

He reread the page with a raised eyebrow. "Well," he said to himself, "it's obvious, really."
